Just when you think you seen every engine possibility thrown into a Mustang some dude with an WWII Sherman Tank engine decides to install one in his 1970 Mustang. The engine is an all aluminum 1100 cubic inch V8 rated at 500 hp and a staggering 1,050 ft. lbs. of torque that was built in the 1940's and used for military service during WWII. It is mated to a heavily modified Powerglide tranny with a custom adapter and flexplate. Some things just amaze me. More pictures after the jump.

how much does that thing weigh?? will it even get off the line??
By mkbenenson #7, Posted: 3/17/2007
Perfectly appropriate, it is a Ford GAA engine, DOHC, hemi, originally designed as a V12 aircraft engine, all aluminum, four cylinders deleted and used for the Sherman tank beginning around late 1943. Have seen two ratings, 400 and 500 bhp at 2600 rpm.

You can spend all the MONEY you want on a Ford, but in the end, IT'S STILL JUST A FORD! Not impressed.

Paul you are an idiot... the point is that someone did something unique not that you hate Ford. Don't have kids they won't make it.

By Bob #19, Posted: 5/8/2008
wow. looks like hes got great f/r weight distribution what with all that massive motor behind the front suspension. lol. whats the weight on that anyway, atleast how much more or less than a iron block 460 v8 is it? I would love to see a video of this. just add some equal length manifolds and f.i. and put two industrial size turbos on it(youll need it to make it rev past 3000, you know, to 3500 or 4000), then lemme drive it so i can die happily of a heart attack
