Ebay: Barn Find Yields 1965 Shelby GT350

December 31st, 1969 This might not be your run of the mill barn find but this 1965 Shelby GT350 has been sitting in some owners barn in Ohio for the last 27 years as a project that never got off the ground.  The car has seen some better days with alot of rust on the body and the motor, trans and interior are completely gone.  The body is verified as a 1965 Shelby GT350 through it's VIN# 5T09A18XXX and through the Shelby Tag that was pop-riveted on the drivers side inner fender panel. The Shelby Tag decodes, SFM - (Shelby Ford Mustang), 5 - (model year 1965), S - (Street car).  The VIN number decodes:, 5 - (model year as 1965), T - (Metuchen, NJ assembly plant), 09 - (Fastback), A - (engine code for 289ci 4V V8 271hp high performance), 18XXXX - consecutive unit number.  In 1965 their were 516 Street production Shelby GT350's produced and they were all made in Wimbeldon White with Black interior. This might be a good starting point for somebody with an original 289 from a 1965 Shelby GT350 but whoever wins this auction will be putting in alot of work to get this baby back on the road. The auction has a high bid of $1K and a Buy It Now of $7500.00.  Check out the auction here.  More photos after the jump...

  1. Can we get the last 4 digits of the VIN? Or perhaps the number after the 5S on the SFM tag?

  2. I'm from Russia and I liked this Shelby GT350 $)

  3. This is not a shelby as all shelby's had a K for the engine code and should have a code of R for San Jose.

  4. Larry Walker is correct. It is NOT a shelby. It's a Metuchen, NJ (second digit T) built fastback with an A-code (fifth digit) 289/225 hp engine. All Shelby's in 1965 started as San Jose (second digit R) built fastbacks with a K-code (fifth digit) 289/271 hp engine.

  5. Shelbyman Dennis Says:
The Shelby VIN Tag is as fake as the car, printing on the tag "Shelby America". original 65 tag said "Shelby American" - no "n". Both the Ford VIN - Code K and R as noted by Larry Walker and Shelby Bob pointed out is correct.

  6. So who's monitoring the monitors of this info before it goes for auction

  7. very interesting, but I don't agree with you
    Idetrorce

  8. It definitely is NOT a Shelby Mustang. As pointed out, all 562 1965 GT350's came in 'knock down' from San Jose plant (R) and had 289 HiPo motors (K). Even if you are unaware of Shelby history, SCCA rules via 1965 would fill in the blanks...in '65 you had to homologate the car for racing and could only alter the drivetrain or suspension for the R models. This is why ALL the '65 and the first 250 or so '66's had the race suspension. The r suspension = lowered control arms, override traction bars etc...

  9. is this car in america???

  10. "assholes"

it's a fucking fake you retards.
Fake vin tag, pc of shit.
How do I know? Because i own a real '65 GT-350 with matching numbers.
I hate scammers, they should be killed slowly.
