2008 Barrett-Jackson Mustang Auction Preview

It's almost that time of year again, time for one of my favorite events, the 37th annual Barrett Jackson Collector Car Auction. The 2008 Barrett-Jackson auction takes place every year in the middle of January in Scottsdale, Arizona and for car collectors it’s the Super Bowl of auto auctions. This auction draws out collectors and celebrities from all over the world. This years auction is being held on January 12 - 20th and will encompass special events, displays and activites for everybody who attends. A schedule of events can be found at Barrett-Jackson.com along with ticket and other information. Some of you might know that I have attended the last few years but this one I will have to sit out due to some previous commitments. Don't worry though Speed will have great coverage for the whole auction and with TIVO it makes for some nice late night viewing. This years auction is much of the same with just a shade under 100 Mustangs and Shelbys that will go on the auction block for the 2008 show with live auctions starting January 15 and carrying through the 20th. Some of the highlighted Mustangs on the auction block this year include Carroll Shelby's personal 1969 Shelby GT500 Convertible, a 2008 Shelby GT500KR #001, Patrick Dempsey's FR500C Racecar, the 2007 Shelby GT500 Anniversary Prototype along with many 60's era Shelby GT500 & GT350's. Speed Channel will be covering the whole event from January 12th through the final auction on January 20th. Live coverage of auctions will take place just like previous years. Unique in the world 1967 Shelby GT500 SuperSnake worth 3 million dollars
Many mistakenly think that the famous 500 - strong buy Shelby Mustang Super Snake 1967, looks like "Eleanor" from the movie "Ugnat in 60 seconds" with Nicolas Cage. In fact, the only copy of "Super Snake" Carroll Shelby built in 1967 and looks like all Shelby GT500 of the period. Similar to GT500E from Hollywood blockbuster car, painted in red and a big humpback schegolyayuschy hood - a modern interpretation of the same, like Eleanor itself, which was created only in 2000. Real GT500 Super Snake painted white and has blue reysingovye strips.
Shelby is not for nothing called the car "Super Snake" because it is nearly 170 horsepower GT500 stronger base at the time.
