Update: Mustang Blog's Project Powerwheels Shelby GT
For those who have been following this powerwheels project you know yesterday was the day I wanted to have this car finished not only to post the photos for everybody but also to give as a gift for my son. Well, I got the car put back together and running with all the parts I bought along with adding the over the top stripes but do to lack of time I threw the towel in at 3am Christmas morning. I got the bulk of what I wanted to do except for the Powered by Ford badge, hood pins and the Shelby GT lettering and side stripes. Those three things will be added in the future along with a battery upgrade for more power to complete the project. The parts I added included the seats, dash, windshield, chrome wheel covers, over the top stripes and I painted the door inlays. I also wanted to remove the rear wing but it was not doable because of how it was molded into the trunk.
To make a long story short my son awoke on Christmas morning and instantly fell in love with the car. He jumped right into the driver seat and wanted to go for a drive. Since he is only a shade over two-years-old he sat in the passenger seat while I managed to drive the mustang sitting on the trunk. With me being 6'4" 215 lbs I can honestly say the car showed no signs of the extra weight as we cruised up and down the street all day long.
All the parts for this project were obtained through HobbyMasters.com, they carry a large selection of parts for all types of Powerwheels.
After the jump I have a few photos of the Shelby GT Powerwheels Project. I will do a side-by-side photo when I get my car washed up sometime this week. Check back for those photos. Enjoy...

haha, great job, looks great, it's too bad you couldn't finish in time, but it still looks awesome.

The stripes gave me hell, those took the longest to do. Alot of measuring and cutting plus they were poor quality. It turned out pretty good.

Man, that is cool!! Your kid must be as excited as you were when you purchased your first car! I am sure he will cut you some slack and allow you to finish it later, but get it done before New Years day!!

Great car! Great Project!!! When he outgrows the powerwheels you will have to build him a bigger car, and the way kids grow you may want to get started LOL!!!
If you email me I will send you a pic of my 65-66 gas powered Mustang Mini.
