The new Duratec 3.7-liter V-6 engine is very similar to the 3.5-liter V-6 currently found in the 2010 Lincoln MKS which will be tweaked a bit for the 2011 Mustang. The new 3.7-liter V-6 will be 24-valve DOHC engine with light-weight aluminum block. Details have not been made public yet but expect somewhere in the range of 260 - 290 horsepower from this motor depending upon what refinements are made by Ford.
As a comparison the 2010 Lincoln MKS 3.5-liter V-6 pumps out 263 horsepower and 249 lb-ft of torque in front-wheel drive trim.
This news about the new V-6 engine further solidifies rumors about the 2011 Mustang GT getting a 400 horsepower 5.0-liter motor. Even though the 5.0-liter Mustang GT motor has been all but confirmed we still lay waiting for the official announcement which should come sometime early next year.

Why can't anyone get the MKS engine correct? It uses the 3.7L V6. The MKZ and MKX use the 3.5L.
Anyways, the 3.7L is rated at 273hp and 270ft-lb of torque. That, combined with the Mustangs 300-400lbs lower weight will make it competitive with the Camaro 3.6L DI V6. The latest rumor is that Ford will install DI on the 3.7L. If so, then it will make 300hp+/- making it that fastest V6 pony car.
That also would leave room for a SVO. 2.5L I4 ecoboost?

Why does Ford have to wait till GM and Chrysler come out with a high powered high gas mileage engine for them to do it I thought Ford was suppose to be the leader?
Why do people continue to support inferiority.
