2007 Shelby Prudhomme Edition Concept to be Auctioned at Las Vegas Barrett-Jackson Event

I know the Las Vegas Barrett-Jackson collector car auction is still a little more than three months away but I could not resist letting you in on one of the Shelby Mustangs up for auction as it's quite rare.  The 2007 Shelby Prudhomme Edition Concept will go across the block at the 2009 Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas collector car auction on October 7-10 at the Mandalay Bay hotel and resort.  The Prudhomme Edition concept will sell at No Reserve with the highest bidder walking away with one radical looking Shelby Mustang.

If you remember the 800 horsepower Shelby GT500 Super Snake Prudhomme edition was a post title add-on package for owners of 2007-09 Shelby GT500's with it being limited to just 100 copies.  Powering the Prudhomme edition Shelby is the 5.4-liter V-8 with an upgraded Kenne Bell supercharger.  Other modifications included a rather large Kenne Bell modified air intake sticking out of the hood, five point impact safety harness, Borla side exhaust, bogart wheels with drag or street tires, eight-point roll cage and an adjustable BMR racing suspension.  Adding that specific package to your Shelby GT500 was $100K. Check back down the road for the Las Vegas Barrett-Jackson Mustang auction preview which I like to do before every major auction. Read More

Shelby Brake Cooling Package for Shelby GT and Shelby GT500

In the latest Mustang Monthly magazine in their 'New Bits' section I came across a new interesting add-on from Shelby Performance Parts for Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT owners like myself, a Shelby Brake Cooling Kit.  The brake cooling kit comes with a pair of carbon fiber looking composite plastic-injected backing plates and heat resistant silicone-coated fiberglass ducting hoses.  The backing plate and fiberglass hose work together to channel air directly through the center of the front rotors for an even heat exchange to lower the temperatures around your rotors.  This kit is designed for the road racer or the daily driver who likes to take...

  • Video: Lamborghini LP560-4 Gallardo vs Shelby GT500, Not Even Close

Have you ever wondered how American muscle like the Shelby GT500 stands up to say a Lamborghini LP560-4 Gallardo. Well, we now have the answer and it's not pretty as the Lamborghini LP560-4 Gallardo destroys a Shelby GT500 pumping out 600 horsepower. Even though the GT500 (600 hp) has more horsepower then the Lamborghini (560 hp) it's still no match because the curb weight of the Gallardo is over 600 lbs. less than the GT500. That factor alone is what decides this race.

The Lamborghini LP560-4 Gallardo has a 5.2-liter V-10 pumping out 560 horsepower utilizing all-wheel-drive while weighing in at 3307 lbs. and the Shelby GT500 is claimed to...

The price tag on the Lamborghini is north of $200K while the Shelby GT500 can be had for around $45K. Something three times the price tag of another should be dominant but is it practical. 2007 Ford Mustang Production Numbers

For those of you who own a 2007 Ford Mustang in V-6, GT or Shelby GT500 form I have come across something you might be interested in.  I have actually been in possession of these numbers for awhile but have finally decided to pull it out of the vault so to speak and post them up.  What I have are the 2007 Ford Mustang production numbers for all V6, GT and Shelby GT500 coupe and convertibles broken down by exterior paint color. Like I say with all the Mustang production numbers I post, take them at face value because although they look official they might not be.  I do know one thing that makes me feel good about these numbers is how the...

I do know one thing that makes me feel good about these numbers is how the Shelby GT500 figures match up exactly with the numbers I posted on my other site MustangHeaven.com. A few highlights from the numbers below show us Black (UA) was the most produced paint color by more than 12K units over  Performance White (HP) which was the second most produced color.  The color with the least amount of units produced was Grabber Orange.  The rarest of the models by color choice and one of my favorite color choices is the Shelby GT500 Convertible produced in Alloy (G5) with only 108 units produced.  Also V-6 Mustang Mustangs produced beat out GT models by more than 26K units.  This number does not surprise me as it's like this almost every year.  Check out all the numbers below.  If you feel any of the numbers are wrong please email me and state your case. Craigslist: 2007 Shelby GT500 for $27K, No Typo

From time to time I like to browse through the local Craigslist ads to see what people are trying to unload in the Mustang community and today I came across what I think is a steal for somebody.  The ad is for a 2007 Shelby GT500 coupe for $27K and no that is not a typo.  The Shelby GT500 is Tungsten Grey with Satin Silver stripes in stock form.  Taking a look at the Shelby production numbers shows us this car is 1 of 363 with the color and stripe combo. The only drawback on the GT500 is that is has a reconditioned title which means it was in a bad enough accident for the insurance company to consider it total loss.  The ad says the Shelby...

The only drawback on the GT500 is that is has a reconditioned title which means it was in a bad enough accident for the insurance company to consider it total loss.  The ad says the Shelby was completely repaired with Ford parts which can easily be verified upon an inspection.  Some buyers will run from ads like this while others see this as a golden opportunity.  I myself am on the fence about cars with reconditioned titles, I have actually owned a 1991 5.0 LX coupe that had a recon title.  At the time I bought the car it was visually and mechanical in perfect condition with no flaws, I looked it over with a fine tooth comb and could not tell it was in an accident nor had it been totaled.  I drove the car for more then three years with no issues. When buying a reconditioned vehice there are a few things you should do if you are interested in the car.  Get as much information about the accident you can, was it a rollover, a flood or did it hit a pole at 120 mph.  Find out who did the repairs, were they done by Joe "The Plumber" in his backyard or were they done by a reputable shop with the correct tools.  Make sure the car was repaired with OEM parts and always visual and mechanical inspect the car for any flaws.  Cars with reconditioned titles can be some of the greatest deals but they can also be the biggest busts if not inspected properly. Video: Chrome Shelby GT500 Project

I guess it's safe to say we are looking at the worlds first Chrome Shelby GT500.  From the video it looks like somebody in Dubai or Saudi Arabia wanted his Shelby GT500 to stand out from all the Lamborghini's and Ferrari's cruising around.  It's a very interesting video if you have never seen how this process works but beware if your German is a little rusty or non-existent you may have a hard time following the host who goes through the whole process of Chroming the GT500.  Check out the video below.
