Teens Prefer Mustang, Parents like Civic

In a recent study done by Kelley Blue Book and KBB.com, a Mustang is the top choice for drivers ages 16 to 25 but 34 percent of them would drive a Honda Civic if that's what the parents were offering to buy them as their first car. The Honda Civic is a top choice among 43 percent of the parents polled who said they would rather have their kids drive a Civic than any other car including a Mustang or SUV. I would probably be one of those 43 percent of parents who would buy their kids an import because it was safer and cheaper but on the other hand I would like my son or daughter the option to choose their own car within reason because I know... The Honda Civic is a top choice among 43 percent of the parents polled who said they would rather have their kids drive a Civic than any other car including a Mustang or SUV. I would probably be one of those 43 percent of parents who would buy their kids an import because it was safer and cheaper but on the other hand I would like my son or daughter the option to choose their own car within reason because I know that a car says alot about who you are and what you are about. Do you think that your first car shaped your life or is it just another ride to get you from point A to point B? That is the question I ask myself from time to time, where would I be if I bought the car my parents wanted me to buy? The answer to that question is, I probably would not be here writing this because my parents had a totally different car in mind for me instead of the Mustang I got. I can relate to the Kelley Blue Book poll even though my situation happend 13 years ago. I can remember back when I got my first car, yes it was a Mustang of course but it almost was not and my life could have been very different if my parents had their way. Back in 1993 when I was a we ole lad my neighbor had an early 90's two-door quad-four grand am with low miles for sale and my parents were hell bent on buying it for me. I have to admit it did not look that bad but yes it was a PONTIAC of sorts. So after a few arguments and some screaming, I told my parents I would drive it off a cliff before I would drive it to school. Yes, I was a spoiled bratt at the ripe old age of 17 but I finally convinced them that a 1990 Mustang GT I was looking at would last alot longer than some POS Pontiac Grand-AM. With that in mind I had already picked out my Mustang (1990 GT) which was sitting on the local used car lot. Not sure I had to do much convincing after my Father and I took it for a test drive and he told me it rode better than his S-10 truck at the time. So to make a long story short, I got the Mustang and here I am today 5 Mustangs later with a bunch of Mustang websites. I guess you could say my first car led me to where I am today changed my life for the better. If you would like to read the whole KBB.com article click here. Read More

K Dezines Fox-Body Rear Seat Delete Kits

When I use to own a fox-body Mustang GT back about 10 years ago I was always looking for a way to get rid of my backseat and make it look nice and neat. The reason I wanted to get rid of it was because everybody knew if you had a back seat then more people could pile in and that was a recipe for more weight which in turn made your car slower. Unfortunately my fox-body GT is long gone but for the thousands of owners who want a nice clean sleek look Keith Doughty of K Dezines has created a rear seat delete kit for your fox-body Mustang.

    Soldier’s Mustang Memorializes POW's, MIA's

I found this story about a Servicemen who has converted his Fox-Body Mustang into a memorial for all our fallen heros. The story was written by Melissa Vogt of MarineTimes.com. Staff Sgt. W.C. Petty II didn’t soup up his 1990 Ford Mustang LX just to feed his ego. He converted the popular muscle car into a memorial on wheels, a visual exhortation to pedestrians and other drivers to not forget prisoners of war and troops missing in action.

“This car is to educate and help people remember,” Petty said. “I believe if you cannot honor those who served or the POW and MIA, don’t honor me with your presence.”

“I believe if you cannot honor those who served or the POW and MIA, don’t honor me with your presence.” The car’s color scheme is black and white, taking its inspiration from the famous POW/MIA flag created in 1971 for the The National League of Families of American Prisoners and Missing in Southeast Asia. On the Mustang’s hood, stripes of red, white and blue flank the names of POWs and MIAs from Petty’s home state, Michigan. The sole exceptions are the first and last names on the list. Topping the list is Gracy Capps, the grandfather of one of Petty’s soldiers. Ending the list is Russ High, one of Petty’s friends. More names are added whenever Petty shows the car and meets a combat veteran. “I have them sign the car on the black vinyl with a silver pen,” he said. “I have one gentleman who served in three wars.” Petty, who marks 15 years in the Army in August, is now stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. He works in military intelligence and is assigned to U Troop, 5th Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment. He’s been slated for a combat tour next year. Petty bought the Mustang in December and began modifying it in March. The exterior work was finished by April. Petty added that he received significant help on the project, with support coming from his wife, chain of command, ACE Made Signs, Crests Unlimited, Mustangs West, Exhaust Pros of Lakewood, Wash., and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 318. People near Fort Lewis will be able to see his POW/MIA Mustang at parades and car shows, and sometimes on weekends, Petty said. “At around 10 to 13 miles to the gallon, it is kinda expensive” to drive every day, he said. 86-93 BBK SSI 5.0 EFI Intake Manifold

When the BBK engineers set-out to develop an all-new performance intake for the popular 5.0L Mustang, what they found was that all the other manifolds on the market shared many of the same design weaknesses as the factory unit.

All manifolds tested delivered an un-balanced flow to each cylinder due to sharp radiuses of the front front runners and all were limited by the small factory fuel rails. As the other brands all came from companies known for their years of carbureted experience - the results were not a surprise.
