Video: Vaughn Gittin Jr. Drifting His 2010 Mustang at Barrett-Jackson
Of the many attractions at the Barrett-Jackson collector car show you will find none as exciting as the drifting expo which has been a mainstay for the past few years. This year Vaughn Gittin Jr. drifts his new Grabber Blue 2010 Mustang around the track just outside the main tent area. The 2010 Mustang drift car has been setup with a custom built Ford Racing Aluminator 4.6 liter supercharged V8 with over 400 horsepower. Watch the video above for some tire shredding drifting.

First 2010 Shelby GT500 Rescheduled for Palm Beach Auction in April
If you were watching the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction like me with excitement Saturday night waiting for the first 2010 Shelby GT500 (Lot#1347.2) to be auctioned then you were sorely dissapointed because it never happend. According to Drew Phillips over at AutoBlog.com, the official word from BJ was Carroll Shelby came down with a cold a few days before the auction and could not make it. With Carroll Shelby playing a big part in the GT500's development both Ford and Shelby decided to postpone the auction. 2009 FR500CJ Cobra Jet Prototype Brings $375K at BJ
The 2009 FR500CJ Cobra Jet Prototype #XX1 lived up to the hype Saturday bringing in a whopping $375K at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction. The Cobra Jet was 1 of 3 prototypes built by Ford for the FR500CJ Cobra Jet platform. The Cobra Jet Prototype was driven on stage by Funny Car racing legend John Force who gave the crowd several engine revs to get them going. Bidding started off on a good pace but eventually stalled in the $100K range. After a few speakers including John Force the bidding picked up and finally settled at the $375K mark. The winner of the auction was Brent Hajek, owner of Hajek Motorsports who also purchased the first production 2009 FR500CJ Cobra Jet. All funds from the auction over $69,999.00 will be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The total amount paid which includes 10% buyers premium ended up being $412,500 so whichever amount you want to go by have at it. One very odd note worth mentioning is the first 2010 Shelby GT500 (Lot#1347.2) was scheduled to follow the Cobra Jet but did not make the auction for some reason. The GT500 was also pulled from the auction list on Barrett-Jacksons site and the announcers never mentioned a thing during the telecast. Seems very odd that BJ, Ford and Shelby have promoted this auction over the past month and then pull the plug on it. We do know their were at least two 2010 Shelby GT500's on site at Barrett-Jackson because I have seen photos of them. Something major must have happed for them to pull the plug on the auction. Check back often and soon for any details that might arise. Sorry for the photo above but that is what you get when you take a picture of your TV. Read More

Steve McQueen Wannabe Jumps His GT/CS Mustang at 100 mph
First off I would like to say this could have gone so wrong in so many ways it's not even funny. A Steve McQueen wanabee felt like cheating death so he drove his GT/CS Mustang down a country road and jumped it at over 100 mph. It's actually a very entertaining video if you can fight through the commentary. At the very end of the video it looks like the Mustang goes off the road but the video ends so it hard to tell what happends. Another good reason to not buy a used car my friends. 2010 Shelby GT500's on Display at Barrett-Jackson
Forum member 'younggun04' over at SVTperformance shot some photos of two 2010 Shelby GT500's while Ford was taking the covers off them inside the big tent. The two GT500's, a Grabber Blue with white stripes and Kona Blue with white stripes are part of the Ford display in the vendor area. Craig Jackson and Steve Davis were on hand to witness and look over the cars as they were unveiled. I wonder which one will go across the stage to represent the first 2010 Shelby GT500 to be auctioned, if I had to guess probably the Grabber Blue GT500. I have never been a fan of any blue color but looking at both of those blues, Kona and Grabber I would... FR500CJ Cobra Jet Prototype #1 to be Auctioned at Barrett-Jackson
As I was looking over the 2009 Barrett-Jackson car list today, yes I have no life, I noticed Lot# 1347.1 had changed. Originally when I was doing my BJ Mustang Auction preview the auction was for the first 2010 Mustang off the line but has since been changed by Ford to the FR500CJ Cobra Jet Prototype #1 which they are calling XX1. I am not sure when Ford made the change or why but we did notice the first 2010 Shelby GT00 is still set for auction right after FR500CJ Prototype. The auction is set for sometime in the late afternoon on Saturday, January 17th.

I am not sure when Ford made the change or why but we did notice the first 2010 Shelby GT00 is still set for auction right after FR500CJ Prototype. The auction is set for sometime in the late afternoon on Saturday, January 17th. With a serial number of FR500CJ XX1, it's the first Cobra Jet built from the ground up to recreate the original 1968 Cobra Jet. Actually it's 1 of only 2 prototypes built prior to the production run of 50 FR500CJ's. This prototype was used extensively in testing and development with several professional drivers getting behind the wheel including John and Ashley Force, Robert Hight, Mike Neff and Bob Tasca III. Other Ford drag racing legends who also got seat time included Bob and Bill Glidden along with editors from "Car Craft", "Race Pages", "5.0", and "Hot Rod". Description of FR500CJ from BJ: The Cobra Jet features the Supercharged 5.4 Cobra Jet engine, Cobra Jet cold air kit, Cobra Jet throttle body, air conditioning and rear seat delete, crankshaft damper, Cobra Jet bellhousing, 6-speed manual (or 3-speed automatic) transmission with SFI bellhousing, stainless steel long-tube racing headers, 9" rear axle assembly, one piece driveshaft drive shaft, single hoop drive shaft loop, Cobra Jet rear control arms and anti-roll bar, Ford Racing adjustable dampers, drag race spring kit, and unique Cobra Jet wheels. Inside are a 5" Cobra Jet IP-mounted pedestal tachometer, a full complement of Ford Racing performance gauges, a short-throw shifter, and Cobra Jet seat package. Completing the package are a safety cage and safety harnesses. Read More
