    Twin-Turbo Viper Powered SN-95

Over on TheTurboForums I came across a thread where somebody is building a Twin-Turbo Viper powered SN-95 Mustang dubbed the "Sniper" out of their garage and thought some of you would get a kick out of it. I would classify this as a dream build of sorts because I have never seen anything like this before.

CobraScott started with a solid base using a 94 SVT Cobra which he has made extensive modifications to including pushing back the firewall 10 inches, custom k-member, custom trans mounts and custom 10-point cage. Other parts included with this build are Twin ball bearing T-76 turbo's, Alcon brakes, coilover suspension and Forgeline wheels. The owner set out to build a unique Mustang neverbefore done and he is definately doing so. We at Mustang Blog can't wait to see the finished product.  Take a look at a few photos after the jump or check out the thread over at TheTurboForums for updates on the build. Read More

Yes I Did It, I Sold My 2003 Cobra Convertible

Some may call this an act of stupidity but about two weeks ago I sold my 2003 Cobra Convertible for no reason at all. Everybody that I have told keeps asking me why did you sell your Cobra, it was your dream car. I can honestly say it was my dream car back in 2003 but I am not a person to keep cars for long periods of time nor do I really get attached to the Mustangs I buy. I like to drive a Mustang for a few years and then get something new which I will be doing in the coming month. I do still have my 1992 5.0 LX convertible which I will be driving to and from work until I find my next prize.

So my journey begins for my next Mustang which... Some may call this an act of stupidity but about two weeks ago I sold my 2003 Cobra Convertible for no reason at all. I like to drive a Mustang for a few years and then get something new which I will be doing in the coming month. I do still have my 1992 5.0 LX convertible which I will be driving to and from work until I find my next prize. So my journey begins for my next Mustang which I have already been scouring autotrader and Ebay for. I have narrowed my next Mustang choice down to a 2006-07 GT coupe or convertible, maybe a GT/CS or Shelby GT or if I can find another 03-04 Terminator with real low miles I might jump on it. I really want to upgade to a newer style Mustang so that is mostly what I will be searching for. I really like the way 2007-08 California Special Mustangs look but I only like White. Color is another thing I should mention, I will only buy a Yellow, White, Silver and maybe Grabber Orange but I am not really sure about that color, it just looks to blah although I do like how it stands out. So that is basically what I am looking for, I will keep updating everybody on my search. One of these days I am going to put up a page with photos telling all about the Mustangs I have owned. 2003 Cobra Caught In illegal Street Race Now Being Used by Charlotte Police

For one 2003 Cobra owner who was caught street racing illegally in Charlotte, North Carolina he payed the ultimate price of having his ride confiscated by police. The Cobra along with a 2005 350Z were caught street racing in South Charlotte and are now property of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police HITS (Highway Interdiction and Safety) Unit.

According to CMPD Captain Andy Kornberg "If you get caught street racing, we're going to take your car and I'm going to enjoy driving it." Instead of hiding behind billboards in marked cars "We are going to hide in plain sight," said Kornberg who vows to stop illegal street racing by setting a precedant to other street racers, if you get caught racing we will take your car. Both cars had to be modified to be made street legal again for use as official police vehicles. The cars were also outfitted with the latest laser detection radar and a wide array of blue lights hidden in the grill, windows, taillights and mirrors. Both the Cobra and 350Z are now a part of the 24 car, unmarked fleet used by HITS to enforce traffic laws througout the Mecklenburg county.       Source: wsoctv.com Read More

Ever dreamed of owning an Aston Martin Vanquish like the one James Bond drove, well your dream maybe closer to reality then you ever thought thanks to Canadian company Exclusive Motors. The Canadian tuning company is bringing the Aston Martin Vanquish to the masses by building a replica based on 99-04 Mustangs. To make the replica as authentic as possible the Mustang has to be completely stripped down and completely rebuilt by hand utilizing a 34-piece body kit along with a complete custom interior. The company chose 99-04 Mustangs because of their new styling and how closely it resembles the Aston Martin family of vehicles. As for the engine the company plans on a full range of Mustang engines including a 5.4 liter V8. According to the company the Ford Mustang enabled them to create a car which had very low and inexpensive maintnence along with low insurance rates.  For the build process they used 10 different companies to build the car allowing each company to put their unique touch on certain areas of the car.  I have listed the whole build process below after the photos. I have to admit after looking over the photos this has to be one of the best replicas I have ever seen. The replica Aston Martin Vanquish looks exactly like the real thing. What they did with the interior is almost shocking, you can tell it's a 99-04 Mustang but you have to do a double take. No pricing has been announced for the kit but expect it to be rather expensive.   The Building Process A company takes care of purchasing the right donor car. From background information, mileage, wear-and-tear, damage, correct paper work, and the right location. The next company strips all the necessary parts, makes all the required chassis changes, installs all the suspension components, and does a full mechanical inspection. A company here builds us grills, door handles, hinges, brackets, that are crafted and designed for our project. In this step, two individual companies produce the 34 piece composite body. This is done in a hand lay-up and also a resin transfer method. All the best materials are used to allow us to put on such a beautiful paint job. Even though part of the Ford Mustang door is used, a full door buildup is done. This step is done by us. We take care of the assembly of the complete body. From headlights, grills, exhaust, and partial interior pieces. We make sure that the car has the right fit. Another company then assembles the complete interior. At this point the car is sent out to the paint shop. The car is then painted in a basecoat clear coat Glasurit paint. It is then hand sanded and polished to perfection. Also, a number of interior parts are painted. The interior is then sent out to our master upholsterer, where it is finished in the right leathers and materials. In this step, we have a unique company that makes hand made automotive glass. A little thicker glass and laminate gives us better sound quality inside the car. This is the part we enjoy the most. Yes, the car has to be tested. At the point we are satisfied, the car is detailed, ready for delivery.   Source: AutoTrader.co.uk Read More
