December 31st, 2005 by CobraMatt

The answer to that question seems to be yes they are. With the much anticipated release of the Dodge Challenger concept and the Camaro conept Ford is stepping up efforts to combat those two models with the return of the Boss Mustang.
According to StangsUnleashed.com a Boss S197 Mustang program exists and a Boss Mustang is coming our way within the next few years.
As for the engine choice Ford would use, rumor has it they will be using a naturally-aspirated 5.4L version of the mod motor. The FPV version of this engine is used in Austrailia and it produces around 390 HP similiar to that of the 2003-04 supercharged cobra according to Eric Bryant on Autoblog.com.
The Boss Mustang was manufactured for three years starting in 1969 available with a with a 302 and a 429 and ending in 1971 with a 351.
As for the Boss Mustang nameplate, it is still the property of the Ford Motor Company.
