2007 Grabber Orange GT500 Spied

March 31st, 2006 by CobraMatt

I have to give it to Robert Lane over at StangsUnleashed.com because he is a very persistent man and he has done it again. This time he has spied the Grabber Orange 2007 Shelby GT500 with not only photos but some pretty sweet video.

Robert claims to have spied the only Grabber Orange GT500 in existence, that is until they start rolling off the assembly line this Summer. The Grabber Orange color is new for the 2007 Mustang model year including the GT500 and if you follow this blog we talked about the Grabber Orange color in a previous article in which The Mustang Source posted a spy photo of the V6 Grabber Orange Mustang.

2006 Boss Shinoda Mustang on Ebay

March 30th, 2006 by CobraMatt

As an Ebay addict I thought it would cool to add a new section to the Blog dubbed ‘Ebay Mustangs’. I figure if I spend so much time on Ebay I should put it to good use. So I have decided to make a section for Ebay Mustangs and I will post some good and bad finds for people to look over.

My addiction to Ebay lands me most of the time in the Motors section searching through the vast wasteland of Mustangs and performance parts. This time I happend upon a 2006 Boss Shinoda Stage II Mustang. You can buy this car for a mere $59, 995.00.

Just when you thought the Boss was gone Team Shinoda was formed by Karen Shinoda, Brian Flahive (Larry’s son-in-law), Jim Klok and Dallas Mustang to continue the legacy of Larry Shinoda and the BOSS Mustang.

Alloy Clearcoat Metallic GT500 Spied

March 29th, 2006 by CobraMatt

Have you been wondering what the mysterious color called Alloy Clearcoat Metallic looks like. Well look no further because Robert Lane over at StangsUnleashed.com camped out one morning to get some photos and video of a 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible in Alloy Clearcoat Metallic skin.

To me the color almost looks like Charcoal Black but is a little lighter. The Convertible wears the Silver GT500 side stripe. Also in the pic you can tell the convertible top is made from the same cloth used on the 2003-04 Cobra convertibles which was a good decision over previous tops. Check out StangsUnleashed.com for more video and photos of this GT500.

Shelby GT350H Rent-A-Racer Is Back!

March 26th, 2006 by CobraMatt

Edmunds Inside Line is reporting that Ford insiders say that a new version of the Shelby GT350H Rent-A-Racer will be unvieled at the New York International Auto Show. Ford’s plan for the latest retro vehicle is to produce a limited number of 2007 Shelby GT350H Mustangs and distribute them to select Hertz dealers across the country.

The 2007 Shelby GT350H will be painted Black with Gold stripes like the 1966 version and come with the 4.6-liter V8. The 4.6L engine will be tweaked a bit to produce around 320 horsepower along with adding intake and exhaust modifications.

History of GT350H:

In 1966 one thousand and one GT350’s were sold to Hertz and given the title GT350H. Most of these cars were painted black with gold stripes and few received the 4-speed manual transmission, although the vast majority contained the automatic transmission. The GT350H came standard with chrome magnum 500 wheels. In April of ‘66, the Paxton supercharger was listed as an option.

Only six convertibles were produced, but none were made available to the public. All came with automatic transmissions as well as air conditioning. The side scoops, however, were not functional since they would interfere with the convertible top mechanism.

#001 Foose Stallion Convertible Goes On The Block

March 23rd, 2006 by CobraMatt

Here we go again with another Foose Mustang on the auction block. This time Foose is taking his creation to the Palm Beach Barrett-Jackson Auction Event March 29th-April 1st. The car being auctioned is a 2006 Serial #001 Foose Stallion Mustang Convertible (Lot#647). The event will be covered and seen on the Speed channel.

What you see here is the first 2006 Foose Stallion Mustang convertible, which was a pre-production prototype featured in many magazines and TV shows across the world. It has a Chip-Foose designed body, special designed interior, two tone paint, 20-inch royal black custom Foose wheels, 330 horsepower motor, upgraded coil over springs, and Baer brakes.

Foose Design and Unique Performance launched an exciting line of limited edition muscle cars based on the new Ford Mustang named the Foose Stallion. Coupes will be available through select Ford dealers in May of this year.

Chip and Unique Performance will donate a portion of the proceeds of this sale to the Progeria Research Foundation. This organization helps individuals and their families suffering from the rare disease. Chip’s sister suffered from this condition.

This is a rare chance to own the first 2006 Foose Stallion convertible in the world and support a great cause.

The SN65 Mustang Project Takes Flight

March 20th, 2006 by CobraMatt

What do you get when you mate a 2003 Cobra with 390 horsepower to a 65 Mustang Fastback? Well you get what Bob and Wayne Julian call the SN65. The SN65 Mustang project is the brainchild of Bob and Wayne over at SN65.com.

The project consisted of mating a 1965 Mustang Fastback body shell to that of a 2003 Cobra chassis/frame. Not only are they mating the chassis of the 2003 Cobra but also the engine, drivetrain, IRS and interior.

This one-of-a-kind build started back in May of 2004 with the deconstruction of both the 65 Fastback and the 2003 Cobra. Over the next 20 months through alot of sweat and tears along with several late nights they finally came through with a finished product that they took to the Detroit Autoramma in early March. At the show Bob and Wayne recieved the most prestigous award for “Outstanding Engineered” car. This award is surely one of many they will recieve as the car makes the car show rounds.

I followed this build off and on for several months and I can tell you this car is a work of art and there is nothing like this car on planet earth. If you have time to read through the whole journal please do, you will really understand what went into creating this one-of-a-kind car.

To find out more about the project and see the entire build process check out SN65.com.

The Real Eleanor Movie Car For Sale

March 19th, 2006 by CobraMatt

The 1967 Mustang GT500 stole the show in “Gone in Sixty Seconds,” the 2000 action hit starring Nicolas Cage. The car dubbed Eleanor has returned to The Auto Collections at the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be on display until somebody pony’s up the cash to buy her.

The popular pony car is actually one of 11 built for the movie. Of those, two were destroyed in the climactic bridge jump and junkyard crusher scenes. Because certain cars were needed to do different maneuvers in the film, no two Eleanors were alike.

All the Eleanors only acted the role of being Shelbys while really they were modified Mustang fastbacks. In the movie the car is supposed to be a four-on-the-floor, but most of the Eleanors were automatics because it’s easier to act and do stunts when you don’t have to manually shift gears.

The Mustang muscle magnet will remain on display between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until it’s sold. Eleanor was previously on display in June 2003 and remains one of the all-time most crowd-pleasing attractions in The Auto Collections.

The Auto Collections is the world’s largest classic car lot with $100 million worth of inventory on display and for sale. It includes antique, muscle, famous, infamous and historically significant vehicles. Open daily, 9:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $6.95 for adults, $3 for seniors and children 5-12 and children under 5 are free.

The Imperial Palace is home to the award-winning tribute show “Legends In Concert” and the Dealertainers(TM), celebrity impersonators who deal blackjack. Imperial Palace is the most central stop on the Las Vegas Monorail. In addition, the resort is famous for “Five-Star-Friendly Service” and includes a race and sports book, 2,640 rooms and suites, world-class gaming and amenities, a seasonal poolside luau, 40,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, 10 specialty restaurants, 10 bars and lounges, state-of-the-art spa and fitness center, business center, concierge service, medical center, chapel and reception facilities.
