Ford Motor Company has waved the magic wand in the direction of interactive TV advertising company, Turner Media Group (TMG) to develop an interactive TV ad campaign for its 2007 Mustang model on EchoStar’s OpenTV- powered DISH Network satellite TV platform. TMG has done a similiar campaign for the Ford Explorer along with i-ads for Mercedes, Chrysler, Land Rover and the US Navy.
The campaign, which will run through mid-July, consists of 30-second spots that are airing on a number of cable networks and that link viewers to an i-ad, via an on-screen pop-up message. The i-ad–which TMG co-developed with EchoStar and which can also be accessed via banners on the DISH Network’s interactive TV portal, DishHOME, and through DISH Network shopping portals–offers over 15 different screens, which showcase styles (e.g. the coupe, the convertible and the ‘Pony Package’), colors and accessories for the 2007 Mustang.
Additionally the i-ad will allow viewers the choice to request a free Mustang exhaust ringtone, wallpaper, brochure for any Ford car and locate a Ford dealer by entering their zipcode.

The day many have waited for has finally come and the owner of the 1st 2007 Shelby GT500 was on hand to accept the keys from Carroll Shelby himself as the car rolled off the assembly line. Ron Pratte, who you might remember won the auction at Barrett-Jackson 2006 for the right to purchase the first GT500. Ron ended up paying $600K to purchase and have it delivered by Carroll Shelby at AutoAlliance. Ron chose to have his car made in Grabber Orange with Tungsten stripes. Mr. Shelby also signed the car on the passenger side glove box.

Another late night of Ebaying as I like to call it has produced some 2007 Mustang gold. This is probably not the first picture of the 2007 Grabber Orange Mustang but it’s a pretty good photo to get an idea of how this baby looks. I will have to admit it looks better then I thought it would.
While on Ebay I also came across a few 2007 GT/CS’s being auctioned. Below I will list all the auctions for 2007 Mustangs I came across. Enjoy…
Auctions:
2007 Grabber Orange Mustang GT
2007 Black Mustag GT/CS
2007 White Mustang GT/CS

No official press releases have landed on the 2007 Mustang yet but Ford has released a few PDF files for the Mustang Accessories and Custom Wheels they are offering for the 2007 Ford Mustang. To access the 2007 Mustang Accessories PDF click here. For the 2007 Custom Wheels PDF click here. I will have to say this entry may be the shortest I have ever written. I kinda like these short ones because I don’t have to think as much not that I do much thinking anyway. Enjoy…

Putting all that power to the pavement is going to be a task all it’s own and Goodyear has stepped up to the challenge by offering one of thier best performance tires. The specific tire selected for Shelby is the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar in size P255/45R18 for the front and P285/40R18 in the rear. From the picture above the tires don’t look that sexy but I am sure they will get the job done. These tires are also found on the Chevrolet Corvette C-5 Z06, Chrysler 300C SRT and Ford GT.
Here is a little info I gathered about the tires from Tirerack.com. The Eagle F1 Supercar tires are designed to emphasize dry road traction and handling. Since these tires are Summer tires they are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice for fear of traction loss. The information contained in the next paragraph is enough to make your head spin but is comprehendable.
Eagle F1 Supercar tires feature a high grip Goodyear AAtrax tread compound (the AAtrax name emphasizing that the Eagle F1 Supercar earns the highest “AA” Uniform Tire Quality Grade wet traction rating) molded into a slightly reduced tread depth (just 6/32″ to 7/32″ of new tread depth on Ford GT tires and 8/32″ for Corvette tires) asymmetric tread design that combines large outer shoulder and intermediate tread blocks to increase initial steering response and cornering stability with a solid center rib to maintain constant road contact and enhance straight-line tracking. Wide circumferential grooves and smaller interior tread and shoulder blocks help water escape from between the tire and the road to maintain wet traction and hydroplaning resistance. The tire’s structure includes twin, high-tensile steel belts reinforced with spirally wound Aramid to distribute the vehicle’s load across the tire’s footprint providing high-speed durability and uniform ride qualities. Polyester body plies enhance high temperature and high-speed durability while exterior sidewall rim flange protectors help guard wheels against curb damage.

Looking at the title of this entry I wonder how many of you did a double take and said what the @#$%. Well I did the same thing when I came across this Mustang on Ebay. According to the auction this is a very rare 1966 Ford Mustang convertible with a retractable hardtop built by designer Ben J. Smith.
To give you a little background on Ben J. Smith we need to go back to the 50’s when he got the idea for a retractable hardtop which he designed for the 57′-59′ Ford Skyliner. While at Ford in 1966 he was asked to build a prototype retractable hardtop Mustang convertible which end up costing Ford the sum of $250K which was alot of coin back in the day. The Mustang was to be a 1967 model but when Ben reported back to Ford that it was not feasible to motorize the top because of added weight like he did in the Skyliner the project was cancelled and the prototype was destroyed.
Ben never gave up on the idea of a Mustang retractable hardtop and after he retired he designed and built one for himself. He then formed the Retractables Unlimited company in 1994 to market the retractable hardtops for 1965 to 1968 Mustangs. From what I have read all over the net and in books only about 10-15 original Ben J Smith retractable hardtops exist today this possibly being one of them. After the originals were built the company soon went out of business.
Ok back to the auction, this pony only shows 30K on the odometer and contains a 2-barrell carb (which is not the original) with power front disc brakes and power steering. The car was originally built in San Jose, CA and ordered through a Los Angeles dealer. As of writing this the auction is at $20K with the reserve not met. To view the auction check it out here.
