Amount Over MSRP Shelby Auctions on Ebay

On any given day you can cruise over to Ebay and do a search in the motors section for ‘2007 Shelby’ and you will see anywhere from 10-15 auctions for the new 2007 Shelby GT500 Mustang. Even though the Shelby GT500 has not been produced dealers are still auctioning off there alotment or space in line to order one. What you are actually bidding on is the amount over MSRP you are willing to pay. It’s not unusual to view auctions in the $5K-$10K range and I have even seen an auction go for as much as $20K.
The million dollar question is WHY? Why would you pay such a high markup on a car they are producing 7500 times over. I guess some people have the complex about being the first to have one. I myself will wait for a few months or maybe even six to purchase one at MSRP. If you think I am dreaming about getting one at MSRP, come talk to me six months after they are out and we will see who’s right.

I totally agree, only I think it might be 6-12 months before we see them down to MSRP. I think the 07 will be in high demand until next spring when the 08 is announced. I refuse to pay such a high price myself, which is why I’m not going to take the 20K offer over MSRP for my first-in-place line at a local Ford dealer. It’s ridiculous.
The thing is, if I had tons of money, I wouldn’t think twice about spending high dollar for something I want. This is what’s happening, and a lot of Ford fans are paying high dollar, which drives the price up more and more. It’s unavoidable. I’m not surprised that the dealers are getting in on the ebay auction because car dealers are crooks already, this is just a few more bucks in their pockets.

Ford Dealers are crooks and Ford will do nothing about it. It doesnt matter if you are a local loyal customer. They are out to squeeze every penny out of you for the GT500. They are now over pricing the Mustang Shelby GT with Ford’s help. I think the 2008 Dodge Challenger and 2009 Chevy Camero and TIME will stop the price gouging. The dealers will be forced to cater to their customers like they should be.
