Ebay: 2007 GT500 with KR600 Upgrade

If you are not satisfied with the 500 horsepower out of the Shelby GT500 from the factory than you might want to take a look at this auction from Hennessey Performance. They are auctioning off a Shelby GT500 with their OVERPRICED KR600 King of The Road upgrade package that adds an estimated 620 horsepower. Performance numbers for this beast include a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 sec., a 1/4 mile time of 11.7 sec. and top speed limited to 190 mph. You can buy this speed demon for a mere $79K, but than again why would someone pay such a rediculous price for 120 extra horsepower. It must be the Hennessey name you are paying for because the specific parts themselves can probably be had for around $5K. Some companies just amaze me on what they think they can charge for upgrades. If you are interested here is the link to the auction.

Guys, you gotta remember that this car is derived from the GT500–around $42,000 with taxes, etc.–and not from the Mustang GT–around $26,000 with taxes, etc. In the world of car values, Hennessey Performance’s name on the car makes it worth more than your name or my name would on the car. The interesting thing here is we got a tuner edition (Hennessey) of another tuner edition (Shelby) vehicle! Tuner squared? Tuner to the second power? Tunertuner car? Hennessey’s versions of the Ford GT are available with 800 HP, and I guess you could get that level of tune in a GT500 from Hennessey, too–if you got the wad. If resale ain’t big with you, do it yourself and save thousands. You could start with a GT500 and do the 806 HP/678 ft. lbs. Koenigsegg CCR/CCX mods, since those parts will all bolt on. Or you could start with a regular Mustang and drop in a crate four-valver–I cannot tell you whether Christian Koenigsegg will sell you a CCX (the US-certified version of the CCR) engine in a crate. Buying a CCX engine in a crate means you will be paying for a lot of carbon fiber engine parts (valve covers, for instance) that are aluminum on the GT500 and Ford GT–but these are worthwhile enhancements if you still got wad. Driveability might suffer, but crafty Canadians have gotten twice the horsepower of even the mighty CCR/CCX out of Ford’s modular if you are certifiably insane. Don’t tell ‘em I sent you–aiding and abetting terrorism is probably twenty to life…
