Fast and The Furious 3 Movie Review

July 7th, 2006 by CobraMatt

I took the wife to the movies the other night to see FF3 but as we approached the ticket counter she bailed on me and said she had no interest in seeing FF3, typical wife. So she decided to go see Jack Black’s ass cheeks flex in Nacho Libre and me to see FF3.

I arrived about ten minutes or so before the movie started to get my usual candy, popcorn and a drink which in turn cost me more than the tickets but thats a whole other story in itself. If I was thinking right I should have just smuggled some candy and popcorn in under my shirt but I am trying to go legit these days so I backed off that plan.

As I am walking into the theatre to find my seat amongts all the other movie goers I look up and see nobody in the theatre. It was almost go time and nobody was in the movie which was surprising to me but I thought for second and realized it was the third weekend this movie was out.

Ok on to the movie, it starts out with Alabama nativeLucas Black who plays street-racer Sean Boswell heading to the parking lot to drive his junker muscle car home when he runs into hottie cheerleader Nikki Griffin (Cindy) sitting in a 2004 Red Dodge Viper doing her nails. Sean and Cindy engage in some flurtatious words. As they are talking her boyfriend walks up who is played by Home Improvement star Zachery Ty Bryan. I will have to say his career is a joke to this point. Zach’s the macho rich jock who starts talking shit to Sean and engages him in a sort of a showdown. Sean challenges him to a race for his daddy’s Red Viper but when Zach says no way Cindy jumps in and throws herself on the bargaining table to the winner.

From here I am sure most know what happens from all the previews so I wont go into to much detail. All I can say is the race went on and Sean got busted. Off to Tokyo he heads to avoid jail time to stay with his father. When in Tokyo he’s the outsider at school and meets a guy named Twinkie played by Bow Wow who shows him the ropes. Twinkie introduces him to drifting and almost immediately gets on the bad side of Drift King (Brian Tee) who is a nephew of a Mafia boss. A race ensues between the two and Sean makes an ass of himself because he knows nothing about drifting. The rest of the movie is basically a cat and mouse game between DK and Sean who fight over a girl Sean met at school who in turn is DK’s girl. When the shit hits the fan Sean challenges DK to a winner take all race on the side of a mountain.

In need of a car and motor for his race Sean relies on his fathers beat up old Mustang he has sitting in his garage. The father has been restoring the car but has really got nowhere with it. After the father learns of the race he offers the car to his son. The Mustang gets re-done with a Nissan Skyline motor and Forest Green paint with white shelby stripes. I have to say the car looked pretty sweet but the thought of an import motor under the hood ruined it for me. Anyway the race went on and you will have to watch the movie for the outcome.

Probably the best part was at the end of the movie when Vin Deisel makes a cameo with the car he wrecked in the first movie during his street race. He has a few words of advice for young Sean Boswell.

Overall I thought the movie was OK, it was not the worst car movie I have ever seen. It had some funny parts and definately some sweet cars if your into the import scene. I would probably go to the 4th installment if made. Let me know through the comments if my review sucked.

I was not sure what it was because you only get about a 2 second look at it. To me generic car guy it looked exactly like the car in the original movie. Not the first time I have been wrong. Thanks for clearing it up.
