JPC One-Piece Aluminum Driveshaft
May 31st, 2006 by CobraMatt
As most of you know the S197 Mustangs come with a two-piece OEM driveshaft which can restrict putting much needed power to the pavement. With this problem in mind JPC has the solution, they have designed a custom one-piece driveshaft for your 3V Mustang GT to get the much needed horsepower to the ground in the most efficient way.
JPC’s precision driveshaft is 4″ thick and is a direct OEM replacement for the two-piece unit. It weighs in at just 17 lbs which is mindboggling over the OEM unit that weights in at 48 lbs.
The driveshaft has been track tested by there Record-Setting Silver GT with Mickey Thompson ET Street Slicks bolted on it and has withstood the tremendous abuse that has been thrown its way.
JPC’s Custom Driveshaft has seen low ET’s in the range of 10.20 at over 138 mph! You can buy this driveshaft directly through there website at JPCRacing.com for $749.95.

Why would ford spend so much effort to build a heavy two piece drive shaft if they could get away with a lighter one piece?

5-8lbs per run down the strip might not add up to much but that reduction in rotating mass over 50 laps on a 17 turn road course can make quite a bit of difference for that application.

no no man! the aluminum driveshaft doesn’t spin any faster than a steel one! lol! it is lighterso you are using hp to drive the wheels not the driveshaft!!! I wish someone would do the rotational weight equation how much does 50 lbs actually weigh at 3000 revolutions? I mean i know it’s more than 50 lbs! but it would be nice to see some math as to how much more that weighs at 3000 revs
