Mustang Takes Joyride of It’s Own

You never think this could happen to you but if you have an older car with transmission problems than you are definately a prime candidate for a mishap like this. The story goes like this, Joe Garlock, 42, of McConnellsburg, PA drove his 1968 Ford Mustang over to a friends house around 7:30pm and parked it in the driveway with the engine running. His friend lives just off a main route kind of like a two-way farm to market road. After Garlock went inside for a few minutes the car got a mind of it’s own and the transmission jumped into reverse causing the car to head down the driveway for the two-way road.

After the car got to the road it began to do circles at about 15 mph on the roadway. Luckily the traffic coming from both directions noticed the car and stopped soon enough to avoid any accidents. While the car was circling it was getting closer and closer to the stopped cars. This is when a state trooper took it upon himself to ram the Mustang and stop the car dead in it’s tracks.

After all was said and done the state troopers car had about $3K worth of damage while the Mustang received minor damage.

Garlock was charged with leaving an unattended vehicle with its motor running.

Lesson for the day, don’t leave your car running if you have transmission problems.
