Strange Development 05-06 Strut Tower Brace

April 3rd, 2006 by CobraMatt

Stange Development is a relatively new company to the Mustang aftermarket and their first product to debut is a Strut Tower Brace for the 2005-06 Mustang made out of aluminum alloy. The strut tower brace provides the same rigidity as traditional steel bracing but is 65% lighter weighing in at just an amazing 1.6lbs or 26.3 oz. To put this into perspective it weighs less then a 32 oz. Big Gulp from Seven Eleven. The price for this lightweight brace is $280.

The strut tower brace end brackets are billet, CNC machined which provide high load transferring capabilities. The center tube was designed from seamless tubing bent with a large radius to avoid stress concentrations. The engineers also utilized complex computer models as well as real world testing to develop this innovative strut tower brace.

Strange Development is a performance automotive research and development company based out of Michigan where they are dedicated in bringing innovative components to the market. Along with the release of this strut tower brace Strange Development plans a release of other suspension components, including a brace for V6 Mustangs using the same technologies.

The Z Brace triangulates the back structure linking the shock towers to the top trunk cross member to keep the rear wheels stiff so the tires can stay firmly planted . The brace is made from aircraft aluminum alloy like their previous strut tower brace to keep the unwanted weight at a minimum. The brackets used to attach the brace to the car are made from high strength steel and are powdercoated for a nice clean look. […]
