The 4.6-liter SOHC V8 Mustang and Explorer engine along with the 3.5-liter V6 Duratec from Ford Motor Company has been named to Ward’s 10 Best Engines of 2007. The list showcases the 10 best engines from a wide variety of automakers across the globe including BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Nissan and Toyota. The winners are chosen by staff members of Ward’s and were selected from a field of 31 production vehicle engines.
Barb Samardzich, Ford’s vice president of Powertrain Product Development, was gratified by the honors bestowed by the inclusion on Ward’s 13th annual list. Continue reading ‘Mustang’s 4.6L V8 Engine On Wards 10 Best Engines List’

It’s the coast to coast car race we have all come to know and love as the Cannonball Run, but instead of calling it that it’s dubbed The Great American Run in the US and the winner will receive a handsome prize in the form of a brand new Saleen Mustang that is packing 600 horsepower. The limited edition Saleen Mustang will be 1 of 25 built specifically by Saleen for event participants to purchase. The Mustang is said to be able to shoot to 60 mph in under 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 200 mph. Of the 24 cars being sold to participants 11 have already found a home. Prices for this ultra rare Saleen Mustang have not surfaced yet but I would expect them to top the S281 Extreme price of $75K. Continue reading ‘Bad Boy Saleen Mustang Goes To Cannonball Winner’

A Tampa man got a rude awakening Sunday morning when out of the sky an 18 inch square piece of ice fell smack dab in the middle of his 2000 Ford Mustang caving in his roof and blowing out his back window. The ice which is unexplained for the time being probably came from a passing plane. Inspectors with the Federal Aviation Administration are reviewing flight schedules to determine if the large chunck of ice could have fallen from an aircraft.

I know most of you are probably getting sick and tired of reading Barrett Jackson in the title of my entries but I promise this will be my last post on the subject for now. I wanted to post up the top 5 Mustangs that went across the auction block along with the daily averages and overall average price of a Mustang. Now these numbers include the buyers premium that was added to every winning bid, not sure what it was but I think its around 10-13% of the final bid price. Is that not rediculous you have to pay the extra buyers premium amount just to buy the car, almost makes it not worth buying a car at the auction. Well I have finally uploaded all the photos I took from last weeks Barrett-Jackson collector car auction. I ended up taking somewhere in the 500 range and most of them were good with the exception of my first day at the event. For part of my first day the camera I was using (borrowed Nikon SLR) was on the wrong setting, so to make a long story short most of the photos were blurry when I got back to my hotel room. No worries as I went back and took most of them again and they came out fine. I uploaded something like 240+ photos to my MustangPhotos.com site, check them out here.

I know it’s about a day late and a dollar short but I promised all your folks out there in Mustang land I would post up the rest of the Mustang results from the Barrett-Jackson auction.
Friday and Saturday at BJ are the days you should stop what you are doing and force yourself to attend or watch on Speed because these are the days the big money is spent and was it ever. Friday’s auctions varied quite a bit with the high for the day including Lot# 1025 , a 1968 Shelby GT500 convertible that went for $313,500 and the low Lot# 1067 a 1965 Mustang GT Fastback that brought $36,300.
The what the heck were thinking auction of the day goes to Lot# 916, a custom 2004 Cobra SVT convertible that featured some wide body panels in the rear along with a custom dash and interior. The car looked totally rediculous and I am in total awe that it brought $49,500 for the final sale price. Who buys this kind of stuff, this auction was a total shocker. Another find while I was over at ShelbyAutos.com was the opening of the official Shelby GT-H registry for owners of serial numbered 2006 Shelby GT-H Mustangs. Their is an online form that needs to be filled out with the usual stuff like name, address, phone, email, VIN number, CSM number, Date of purchase and the place of purchase. To register your 2006 Shelby GT-H head on over to the registration page here.
Also listed on the homepage it says the Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT registrations will begin soon. So from that statement we can expect to see all the Shelby Mustangs with a registry quite soon.

If you have ordered one of the new 2007 Shelby GT Mustangs and would like to check the status of your car then you are in luck because for the first time I have seen you can enter your VIN number using a special search function on ShelbyAutos.com to find out build information. The specifics of what is behind the search function are not known but the site does say they cannot give estimates for delivery dates. So if you are reading this and have recieved your VIN number head over to ShelbyAutos.com’s Shelby GT VIN search and let us know what you find out.

Saturday is always the big day at Barrett-Jackson and it could not get any bigger with the sale of Caroll Shelby’s personal Super Snake Cobra that set a Barrett-Jackson record. You could just feel the excitement in the air as the bidding reached 1 million the crowd erupted only to be outdone as the bidding went to 2, 3, 4 and then to a never before seen number at Barrett-Jackson. Lot#1301 sold for an even $5 Million Dollars to local Arizona business man Ron Pratte who is a personal friend of Carroll Shelby and Craig Jackson. The Super Snake Cobra was built back in 1966 with a 427 Dual Paxton supercharged engine capable of 800+ horsepower. The first production 2007 Shelby GT #001 went across the auction block on Saturday at the 2007 Barrett-Jackson collector car auction and it was being sold to benefit Carroll Shelby’s Children’s Foundation. The Shelby GT #001 sold for $600K which if you remember from last year’s auction was the same amount the first Shelby GT500 went for. The winning bidder was the same gentlemen, Ron Pratte who not only won the Shelby GT500 last year but also purchased the next two Shelby GT500’s #002 and #003. During the auction on Saturday Mr. Pratte was also given the option to purchase Shelby GT #002 at MSRP.
