2007 Fun Ford Weekend Kicks Off In Orlando

February 28th, 2007 by CobraMatt

orlando07.jpg

Another season of Fun Ford Weekend is upon us yet again and the first stop is the 17th Annual FFW Spring Break Shootout at the Orlando Speed World Dragway on March 3 & 4.  Each year the first stop has always been Orlando due in large part to how cooperative the weather is, not that racing in snow or freezing cold tempatures is bad but most would rather be racing on a nice sunny day with bikini girls looking on.  Things that can be found at FFW events other then racing include swap meets, girls, vendor booths, car shows, girls and more. TCI Offers New Torque Converters For 05-07 Mustangs

February 26th, 2007 by CobraMatt

tcimustangconverter.jpg

Finding a way to make up a half second in the quarter mile is not an easy task especially when you have exhausted all avenues but here is one you might not have thought of.  The engineers at TCI automotive have come up with a pair of 10-inch diameter high performance torque converters that will deliver improved quarter mile performance of up to a half second along with increased durability.

The torque converters can be used for street/strip applications and they are direct replacement for OEM converters in 2005-07 Mustangs with the 5R55 transmission.  Features include increased stall speed to 3500 and 3800 rpm, hand-built steel stator, heavy-duty clutches, furnace-brazed turbine fins, a modified impellor fin angle and INA thrust bearings for lowered internal friction.  According to TCI these features deliver lower operating tempatures and the ultimate in performance.

Ebay: 2003 Mach I Magazine Cover Car w/779 HP

February 25th, 2007 by CobraMatt

ebay_2003mach1.jpgYou might remember this 2003 Mach I with 779 horsepower that graced the cover of Modified Mustang magazine back in October/November of 2005 because it was billed as the ultimate street sleeper.  And that it is for putting down some rediculous high horespower and torque numbers for a street car with no nitrous.  Just as a comparison for horsepower figures this car doubles the hp rating number of my 2003 Cobra (390 hp) with its amazing 779 hp rating.

This car features a single turbo setup with no nitrous that was built by Livernois motosport back in early 2005.  The auction has just under 3 days left and only six bidders have got in on the action with the high amount at $15K.

For a full list of the mods and a ton of photos you can visit LivernoisMotorsports.com. To view the auction click here. Continue reading ‘Ebay: 2003 Mach I Magazine Cover Car w/779 HP’

Head of SVT Hau Thai-Tang Leaving For Brasil

February 22nd, 2007 by CobraMatt

hauthaitang.jpgThere are a few reports going around the net that Hau Thai-Tang, current Director of SVT will be getting a promotion to take over the helm at Ford of Brasil, which is Ford Motor Company’s most profitable global market.

For those not familiar with Thai-Tang he was the Cheif Program Engineer for FoMoCo on the 2005 Mustang.  He spearheaded the iconic launch of the S197 Mustang platform in 2005 and then moved on to become the Director of SVT.  His latest work along with SVT personell can be seen in the form of the Shelby GT500 which turned out to be the most powerful Mustang ever produced.

Could this promotion lead Thai-Tang onto bigger and better things like a nod to one day head Ford in the US.  One can only speculate about his future but it sounds to me like they are shipping him off to Brasil to be groomed for something bigger.

ROUSH Stage 3 Blackjack Mustang Gets Greenlight

February 21st, 2007 by CobraMatt

roushblackjack_mustang.jpg

When I saw the Roush Stage 3 BlackJack prototype go across the auction block at Barrett-Jackson in January I said to myself when are they going to build this evil looking monster.  Well are prayers have been answered so to speak with ROUSH annoucning a limited run of a 100 Stage 3 BlackJack Mustangs, which have already been pre-sold through ROUSH-authorized Ford dealers.  The protoype BlackJack fetched $82,500 with all the fees at BJ and in my opinion was a steal for the winning bidder who got the first of a limited run Mustang from Roush.

The Roush Stage 3 BlackJack Mustang was the vision of racing legend Jack Roush who says he takes pride in knowing he had a hand in something this special.

“I am involved with all the vehicles that Roush Performance builds, but the Stage 3 BlackJack is really the first one which was entirely my design and I am quite proud of how well it turned out,” said Jack Roush. “When I drove the prototype around the NASCAR tracks last season it got a lot of attention, mainly due to the intimidating theme of the car. Of course, the distinctive rumble of a ROUSHcharged V-8 engine turns a lot of heads, too. ”

The BlackJack Mustang sports an evil looking black-on-black paint combo with an engine to back up the look pumping out 430 horsepower and 400 lb. ft. of torque by way of a Roots-style M90 supercharger.  All the Roush goodies accompany this Mustang including 7 piece aerobody kit, Polished billet aluminum accessories, such as radiator, oil and strut tower caps and a Roush wheel hop reduction kit.  The interior gets charcoal leather seating with an embroidered Stage 3 BlackJack logo, white electroluminescent gauges, billet aluminum pedal kit and short throw shifter with black shifter ball. Real or Fake Semi-Transparent Mustang Billboards

February 16th, 2007 by CobraMatt

fordmustangads.jpg

Not really sure what to think of these Mustang billboards made out of GE Lexan semi-transparent resin that give a blur effect as you drive by them.  Photos of these billboards recently surfaced over at Adpunch which they claim is an ad campaign launched by Ford for the Mustang.  The only visible link to Ford is a small Mustang logo in the bottom right of the billboard.  A general assumption could be made that what Ford is trying to convey the message when you drive by this billboard this is what it looks like in a Mustang, just a blur.

The whole semi-transparent Mustang billboard campaign just seems like one big hoax . I guess we will just have to wait and find out.   If anybody has any insight into this please do tell in the comments. A high-resolution photo after the jump. Ebay: The 1995 Lime Green Gobblin Mustang

February 15th, 2007 by CobraMatt

limegreen3.jpg

When you think you’ve seen it all, up pops this Mustang auction on Ebay.  Some Mustang fanatic took it upon themselves to dress up their 1995 Stang in Lime Green Gobblin attire and add a hitious looking import body kit along with a non-functional hood scoop attached to the roof.  This car needs to be driven off a cliff.  I am speechless… Continue reading ‘Ebay: The 1995 Lime Green Gobblin Mustang’
