Grabber Blue and Amber Gold Mustangs Spotted

February 15th, 2007 by CobraMatt

2008_grabberbluemustang_main.jpg

Over at GrabberOrange.net a forum member spotted a few odd colored Mustangs in the Ford R&D lot.  One of the S197 Mustangs was painted with throwback color Grabber Blue and the other Mustang with a sick looking Amber Gold color.  Could we be seeing a return of Grabber Blue paint for a 2008 model year run?  The Grabber Blue Mustang looks pretty sweet but please don’t paint any Mustangs Amber Gold as that color looks like throwup.  More photos after the jump. Franklin Mint 2007 Shelby GT500 Diecast Replica

February 15th, 2007 by CobraMatt

gt500_diecast1.jpg

Diecast replicas have never really been my thing and I actually only own one with it being a Yellow Ferrari I recieved for Christmas a few years back from a family member.  Come to think of it why did they buy me a Ferrari diecast when my whole family knows I am into Mustangs.  That always happens to me at Christmas, I am a die hard Mustang and Ford guy and some aunt or uncle always buys me a Chevy hat or BMW key chain, sometimes I just don’t get it.

Anyway back to the subject at hand, the Franklin Mint, Ford Motor Company and Carroll Shelby have teamed up to offer a new 2007 Shelby GT500 diecast model that is limited to 5,000 pieces. It is crafted in 1:24 scale and is being offered in Vista Blue with White stripes.  All the bells and whistles that come with typical diecast models are included like opening doors, hood, and trunk.  If you are looking to buy head over to SteedShop.com where you can pre-order this item for $118.99. February 15th, 2007 by CobraMatt

projectgtvsgt500.jpg

With dealers charging up to a $20K markup on Shelby GT500’s, Edmunds Inside Line thought their had to be an easier way to get the power and performance without spending so much.  So they took it upon themselves to build their own Shelby GT500 clone on a budget from an old project car they had laying around.

Inside Line began with their long-term 2005 project Mustang that had been sitting around for about a year or so.  Next they put together a list of parts and suppliers from which to build their GT500 clone.  Continue reading ‘Edmunds: Project Mustang GT vs. Shelby GT500′

SCCA Approves 2007 Shelby GT For Competition

February 12th, 2007 by CobraMatt

I will start off by saying I’ve had better days as I pulled a muscle in my neck playing in my weekly soccer game yesterday. I went up for header on a corner kick and extended my head just a bit to much for the ball and I could feel my neck stretch to much. At this point I can barely type and every movement I make is painfull. Tonight I will just retire to my bed with a nice heating pad in hopes it will feel better tomorrow.

Oh yeah this is a Mustang site so I will just leave you with this press release about the Sports Car Club of America allowing the 2007 Shelby GT to compete in the T2 class. If you get stuck on the eighth word into the press release just remember it means approves or allows not that I had to look it up or anything. Can’t remember the last time I heard or read the word ‘homologated’, for a sec I thought it meant something else.

Press Release:
The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has homologated the new 2007 Ford Shelby GT for competition in its T2 class. Owners of 2005-2007 model year Mustangs also scored big with the SCCA and will be allowed to compete using Ford Racing Performance Packs in the T2 class. Shelby GT500 Crashes Through Window

February 11th, 2007 by CobraMatt

I have been looking for video of this red GT500 for a long time now after I watched an episode of “Shooting Cars” on Speed awhile back. “Shooting Cars” is or was a reality show on Speed about a New York City shop that rents out stunt cars for movies and tv. What we have here is video of a scene from a movie being shot where a stunt driver jumps a red Shelby GT500 through a big glass window onto a Brooklyn street and then gains control and tears ass down the street. The scene was being shot for a Will Smith movie named “I Am Legend”.

Just when you think you seen every engine possibility thrown into a Mustang some dude with an WWII Sherman Tank engine decides to install one in his 1970 Mustang.  The engine is an all aluminum 1100 cubic inch V8 rated at 500 hp and a staggering 1,050 ft. lbs. of torque that was built in the 1940’s and used for military service during WWII.  It is mated to a heavily modified Powerglide tranny with a custom adapter and flexplate.  Some things just amaze me. More pictures after the jump. Continue reading ‘1970 Mustang With 1100 ci Sherman Tank Engine’
