2008 Shelby GT500 Vapor w/Black Stripes Spied

June 30th, 2007 by CobraMatt

2008_black_stripe_vapor.jpg

Over at StangsUnleashed.com a forum member by the name of harley99fb snapped a few photos while at the AAI plant recently.  The photos show a 2008 Shelby GT500 adorned in the all new Vapor color with Black stripes.  The color itself has a nice deep rich tone to it kinda like the color of the Eleanor Mustang in Gone In Sixty Seconds.  Lets just hope dealers are not sitting in there offices planning an Eleanor marketing campaign for this color, that would be a shame.

After the jump I have posted some high-res photos but more can be seen from all different angles at StangsUnleashed.com. Continue reading ‘2008 Shelby GT500 Vapor w/Black Stripes Spied’

Shelby GT500 Prices Hit The Wall and Go Splat

June 29th, 2007 by CobraMatt

shelby_gt500_prices.jpg

Mark this glorious month of June down on your calendars as the month Shelby GT500 prices hit the wall and went splat.  I know this because I have been religously watching markups/prices ever since they came out about a year ago and I can honestly say everywhere I look prices are coming down even if it’s slowly.  The prices I have been seeing on Ebay, Autotrader and various other places are in the low $50K’s and even some sellers are asking high $40K’s.  Now I know there are still alot of dreamers out there and what I mean by this is your XYZ dealer still asking rediculous $65K prices, there are plenty on Ebay as I type this.  I just laugh and move along when I view prices like those and you should to.  I knew this time would come but did not think it would take almost a year for prices to head downward.

More fuel to my fire comes from a recent trip to my local Ford Dealership where I was purchasing an SUV for the wife and in the showroom they had a red GT500 coupe that had been marked down a few times; $59K > $57,700 > $55K.  I asked our salesman why the mark downs on the GT500 and he flat out told me nobody has even made an inquiry about the vehicle for sometime and they were looking to move it.  I wonder if this is the norm for dealers around the country, why else would we see these lowered prices.

After the jump I have listed the deals and dreamers I found on Ebay. Continue reading ‘Shelby GT500 Prices Hit The Wall and Go Splat’

SteedSkins Introduces All New Leather Shift Boot

June 28th, 2007 by CobraMatt

steed_skins_leather_shifter.jpg

Another lazy post for me, this entry is another press release from the good folks over at SteedShop.com who are introducing a custom leather factory looking Shift boot for 2005-07 Mustang owners.  Read below about the Shift boot or head over to SteedShop.com for all the info.

An all new product has been released from SteedSkins over at the SteedShop.com, allowing Mustang owners to upgrade their interiors with the rich look, feel, and smell of genuine leather. Currently available for 2005-2006 Mustangs, the SteedSkins brand shift boot is made from top quality automotive grade leather for a great match to the Mustang’s factory color and grain.

Not a “universal fit” product, the SteedSkins shift boot features a unique bonded ring collar top just like the factory boot, allowing it to fit snugly with the OEM style shift knob for a factory fit and look. Many of the aftermarket shift boots come with an unfinished open ended neck that doesn’t easily fit or requires fabrication to have a finished look. Steeda Dominates NASA American Iron at Gratttan Raceway Park

I am feeling lazy today so I will just leave you with this great press release from Steeda about them dominating the recent outing for the National Auto Sports Association at Grattan Raceway Park.  After the jump you will find some nice photos of the day at the track.

Once again, Steeda Autosports prepared Mustangs had an outstanding weekend during the National Auto Sports Association (NASA) Ohio-Indy American Iron Race at the extremely challenging Grattan Raceway Park on June 9th and 10th.

Robin Burnett (Burnett Racing) in his 2005 Steeda Mustang won two races during the weekend, winning the Saturday and Sunday feature events leaving the competition in his dust !   In addition, Robin set a new track record in his qualifying session for the Sunday race by guiding his Steeda Mustang at such a blistering pace that the only competition he had was himself and his teammate’s Steeda Mustangs! Rockford Fosgate Mustang Package Rocks Stangnet’s GT500

June 26th, 2007 by CobraMatt

The recently completed Glassback GT500 project from Classic Design Conepts and Stangnet was given some final touches in the form of audio equipment from Rockford Fosgate.  Rockford Fosgate’s Mustang audio package was specifically designed for the Shelby GT500 which includes an amazing 2 Kilowatts of power.

The system includes a pair of P2D48 8-inch woofers, powered by a T400-2 power series amp putting out 400-watts for the front door speakers.  For the front and rear factory locations that house the 6.5-inch speakers, Rockford chose to add the P162S 6.5 component speakers using a Power 1000 amplifier, a single 5-channel 1,400-watt model that is Rockfords flagship.  The only thing missing is the bass and Rockford did not forget about it as they installed a P2D412 Punch 12-inch subwoofer mounted it in a custom molded enclosure in the passenger side trunk area.  On the opposite side of the subwoofer in the trunk is a matching amplifier rack.

All the audio equipment was mounted nice and neat out of the way inside the trunk leaving space for just about anything.  It almost looks as if it came this way from the factory but once the radio is turned up you definately know this is no ordinary audio setup.

Right-Hand Drive 2007 S197 Mustang GT In Aussie Land

June 25th, 2007 by CobraMatt

right_hand_drive_s197mustang.jpg

It’s always odd to see right-hand drive cars because here in the states all cars are made as left-hand drive and rarely do we ever see any on the roads. So seeing this 2007 S197 Mustang GT as a right-hand drive is just very weird to me. The Mustang GT which is now sitting in a dealership in Austrailia is awaiting delivery to it’s owner. The person who bought this Mustang has to be fanatical about owning Mustangs, who else would pay all the shipping, fees and costs associated with making the car right-hand drive just to have one in Austrailia. I am unsure of the actual price tag to own a Mustang in Austrailia but a few years back I recall somebody paying upwards of $100K just to own an ordinary 2005 Mustang GT.

Taking a look at the car from the picture above we can see the center console, radio, AC controls and parking brake were left untouched. The headlight switch has been moved to the right-hand side closest to the door but one thing I don’t see is the drivers door armrest there is only a power window switch and not a power unlock switch, I guess that did not make the move. Another thing we notice in a separate photo below is the hood release has been left alone on the left kick panel where it usually resides.

The only thing under the hood I can see that has changed is the battery and brake fluid have been moved to accomadate the steering shaft. If you can see anything else or have any insight into the cost associated with owning one of these in Aussie land please do post in the comments. More photos of the car after the jump. Ebay: Batman Called, He Wants His Mustang Back

June 24th, 2007 by CobraMatt

yellow_batman_mustang1.jpg

This beauty comes to us from Ebay via an anonymous tipster, and from what I see it’s far from beautiful. I always see some pretty funky bodykits on Mustangs these days but this one looks as if Batman designed it himself. The front bumper to me looks like it’s at least a foot longer then the stock one and the side vents just add to the mystique. I would have to say if Batman drove a Mustang this might be the one. Check out more pics after the jump. Continue reading ‘Ebay: Batman Called, He Wants His Mustang Back’

Jack’s Toys Episode 9: Two 60’s Mustang Convertibles

June 24th, 2007 by CobraMatt

In this episode about Jack’s Toys, he talks about two of the cars that started his collection way back when. The first car is a recreation of a 1964 1/2 Mustang convertible he drove when he started working for Ford Motor Company in 1964. The other Mustang convertible in this video was owned by friend who had a wheel and tire company in Detroit, his daughter drove the car while in college but unfortunely the car had an engine fire and was delcared a total loss. One day Jack noticed the vehicle sitting in a lot and decided to restore the car to add to his collection. These two cars definately have some history if they were what started it all.

If you would like to watch via youtube here is the link.
