June 2007 Mustang Sales Figures Released

July 7th, 2007 by CobraMatt

mustang_sales_figures_down.jpg

Sales looked to be on the up and up with last months sales increase over the previous year but with the end of the model year along with the fact that 2008 Mustangs are on their way to dealerships sales tailed off for the month of June.

Sales of Mustangs for June of this year were 12,781 compared to 15,165 from June of the previous year showing a 15.7% drop in sales. Year to date sales for 2007 are 77,341 compared to 87,284 for the six months of last year, a 11.4% drop.  Sales decreased from the previous month but were right inline with what April’s sales figures were.  I would not read to much into these numbers as the new models are set to hit the dealerships soon.

If you are curious what previous months sales are check out March, April and May Sales.

Ebay: One-of-a-Kind 2006 Mustang “Cut Away Car”

July 5th, 2007 by CobraMatt

This is one of those finds you go what the #@$%, well that is what I said when I first viewed this auction. The car is what they refer to in the movie business as a “Cut Away Car” which started life as a 2006 Mustang GT and was made for the last running production show “Headlights and Tailpipes” that featured a bunch of custom cars that were built by Movie Mike along with this Mustang. The show also starred Playboy Playmates who were filmed in the Mustang at the Stardust Casino before the implosion took place. The car rides on casters so that it can be wheeled around and assembled/dismantled in minutes.

The auction, which is no reserve, has a high bid of $2,325. I have added a bunch of photos after the jump for your viewing pleasure. Check out the Ebay auction here. Continue reading ‘Ebay: One-of-a-Kind 2006 Mustang “Cut Away Car”’

‘Bullitt’ Remake To Star Brad Pitt as Lt. Frank Bullitt

July 5th, 2007 by CobraMatt

*** UPDATE ***

According to AutoBlog.com, Ford got wind of the news and contacted Brad Pitt’s management and according to them they have no knowledge of Brad playing Steve McQueen in a Bullitt remake.  I guess this was just a rumor started by Monsters and Critics.  It sounded good when I read the news, oh well, just goes to show you can’t believe everything you read on the net.  ****
The ‘Bullitt’ movie made famous by it’s wild chase scene with legendary Hollywood actor Steve McQueen driving a highland green 1968 390 GT Fastback Mustang is being remade with Brad Pitt starring as Lt. Frank Bullitt. The movie has been in development since 2003 but has recently been greelighted for production. It could be a coincedence or not but in 2008 is when a new Bullitt Mustang will be introduced. I would bet anything he will be driving a 2008 Bullitt in the movie through the streets of San Francisco chasing a new Dodge Charger like in the original. Ebay: Bidding Wars Have Begun For Shelby GT500KR

July 2nd, 2007 by CobraMatt

2008_shelbygt500kr.jpg

A few Ford dealers are starting to post auctions on Ebay for their alotment of the 2008 Shelby GT500KR and the bidding has begun with two auctions over the $100K mark already.  This is truly insane as the vehicle has not even been produced along with the fact they are making 1000 of these babies.  Producing 1000 of something is limited but if you sit back and think about it it’s really not that limited.  I just think alot of people will be taking a bath on these things a year or two down the road as the hype wears down and the new body style is introduced.  If I had a $100K+ to blow on a 500+ horsepower car why not buy a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

One of the auctions has three bids and is up to $135K and the other auction has just eclipsed the $100K mark.  Please give me your thoughts in the comments on this silliness.
