Ford ramps up its fight against breast cancer by announcing today a very special addition to its 2007 Warriors in Pink Campaign in support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Two-time Grammy-winner and former American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson joins Ford’s fight by appearing in their campaign designed to drive awareness of the Warriors in Pink initiative. Ford has supported Komen for the Cure for 13 years and has dedicated more than $90 million in cash and in-kind donations to save lives and help end breast cancer forever. Last year, the line of apparel generated more than $1.1 million in sales, with all net proceeds going to Komen.

The Grammy winner is joining Ford in the fight against breast cancer for the second year in a row. As a supporter of breast cancer awareness and eradication, this year, Clarkson will be the face of the Warriors in Pink print campaign as well as the PSA on the importance of early detection to be featured on fordcares.com. In addition, Clarkson designed a one-of-a-kind customized Warriors in Pink miniature Mustang that will be auctioned off during the month of October. In 2006, a portion of tickets sold for Clarkson’s Addicted summer concert tour was donated to Komen for the Cure as part of Ford’s Warriors in Pink effort. Breakfast With The Ford Mustang, THEY’RE GR-R-REAT

Get ready for a chance to win a Ford Mustang, Edge or F-150 in a new contest put on by Kellogg’s, HotWheels, Target and Ford.  It’s easy to play, all you have to do is buy Kellogg’s cereals at participating Target stores around the country and collect the collector cards inside each box.  To win the Mustang you have to turn in a red, silver and Orange Mustang card.  Just like Monopoly at McDonalds, some of the cars are numerous while others are rare.  The contest begins in September and is exclusive to Target stores.  Also inside every cereal box is a coupon for a Ford-model Hot Wheels basic car.

This is a good reason to go out and buy some frosted flakes for September, I dont usually eat cereal in the morning but I could make an exception for a month to play along in the promotion.

After the jump I have included photos and the press release for all the info. Continue reading ‘Breakfast With The Ford Mustang, THEY’RE GR-R-REAT’

Brad’s Project Source Horse Gets New Revamped Site

August 27th, 2007 by CobraMatt

I am sure most of you have heard of Brad’s Mustang site at TheMustangSource.com and of the project car, the 2006 Tungsten Mustang GT.  The project is dubbed “Source Horse” for obvious reasons and he has been working on the car with several aftermarket companies who have lended parts along with time.  The project has moved along pretty smooth with the addition of a supercharger, wheels, interior and exterior mods to name a few.  Just recently the project section on the site was revamped and reworked to give you a look inside what all went into the car.  The new section can be found here and includes tons of photos and explanations on all the mods.

3D Carbon Convertible Tonneau Cover For S197 Stangs

August 27th, 2007 by CobraMatt

3d_carbon_tonneau_cover.jpg

When this tonneau cover for the S197 Ford Mustang came out earlier this year it slipped right passed my radar but when I was reading the October edition of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords it caught my attention.  I know I don’t own an S197 convertible just yet but I expect my next car to be one whether it be a GT or GT500.  One of the first mods along with the exhaust will probably be this 3D Carbon convertible Tonneau cover.  It’s by far the best looking cover I have seen for S197 Mustangs.  The cover is officially licensed by Ford and is manufactured in textured ABS plastic.  It comes in a black finish but can be painted to match your cars color. Price for this cover is in the $450-$500 range and it can be bought through any authorized 3D Carbon dealer.

Video: Shelby GT500 Super Snake In Rare Form

August 22nd, 2007 by CobraMatt

A few lucky Mustang fans were on hand to witness a Shelby GT500 Super Snake being loaded into a transport vehicle to be shipped to the Woodward Dream Cruise that took place this past weekend. One onlooker had the video rolling as the Super Snake trolled around the parking lot. The best part about the whole video is the audio which gives everybody insight into how the Super Snakes exhaust sounds, at one point the driver gives a nice little rev to expose the deep toned exhaust. Watch the video and listen to the sweet sounding exhaust.

Look very carefully at this photo and you will notice the car is made from a Fox-Body Mustang convertible. The car is being sold on AutoTrader.com under the title of 1990 Ford Mustang Destiny, the ad claims there are a few hundred of these built. The asking price is somewhat rediculous at $37,900. Here is the link to the autotrader ad.

Video: SN95 Cobra Display Gone Horribly Wrong

August 19th, 2007 by CobraMatt

From the looks of this SN-95 Cobra the owner is taking the expression “presentation is everything” to a higher level. The Cobra is done up in a White/Black Kiss Theme with Gullwing Doors and from the looks of the video Chucky is sitting in the drivers seat holding the detachable steering wheel. In the passenger seat area the owner has removed the seat with a mini pond/swimming pool complete with fish aquarium garb and a few goldfish to make it legit. Also in the general area where a passengers feet might be the owner has a budlight beer display with mirror and flowing mugs. The interior also boats a stereo system and nitrous bottle along with a TV in the backseat. As for the hood it has been split down the middle and now opens like a side-by-side fridge. That’s all I can write about this, I don’t want it to take any more of my time up. Just watch the video and let me know your thoughts.

Sturgis To Host First Annual Mustang Rally Over Labor Day Weekend

August 17th, 2007 by CobraMatt

Most of us have heard of Sturgis because of Bike Week as the place for the biggest Motorcycle rally in the country but over Labor day weekend the town will be hosting the First annual Sturgis Mustang rally.  The event will be held August 31-September 2 with a Poker Run, Swap meet, Show & Shine car show, Drag races and an awards/dance on Saturday night to cap things off.  For more on this Mustang rally animg_9.jpgd a schedule of events check out the press release below.

Press Release: Frank Lawton is the chairman of this event, as well as a Mustang enthusiast. He said the Ford Mustang has been an American icon since it first rolled off the assembly line in 1964. “They appeal to all segments of the population,” Lawton, who owns a 2005 Saleen Mustang and a 2006 Mustang GT, said.

Expect to see many older collectible Mustangs as well as their late model, more technologically advanced counterparts.

Lawton hopes that this rally will become the premier Mustang rally in the nation. He expects a very good turnout for this first event.

“We’ve got people coming in from all over the country,” Lawton said.

According to Robin Shrake, the secretary/treasurer for the Mustang Club of America, she puts on a grand national rally every year. Located in a different town every year - the Mustang Rally is scheduled at least two years in advance.

“We’re hoping within three to five years we can bring the national rally here to Sturgis,” Shrake said.

It will be a fun-filled weekend for those who participate. There will be a swap meet, drag races, show and shine, street dance and a couple of different poker runs throughout the weekend where $3,000 in prize money will be available. Fidanza 3.5″ Aluminum One-Piece Driveshaft

August 17th, 2007 by CobraMatt

fidanza_driveshaft.jpg

When the sad day comes for me to release my Cobra to the general public and I start hunting for my next Mustang purchase of an S197 model, hopefully a GT500 but looking more like a GT, one of the first things I will probably do to my S197 stang is replace the two-piece driveshaft with an aftermarket one-piece unit.  It seems like common sense to replace something that uses two parts down to one along with a signifigant weight reduction.  One such company who produces these driveshafts is Fidanza who has just come out with their 3.5″ diameter aluminum Mustang driveshafts that are rated for up to 600 and 900 horsepower.  The all aluminum shafts weigh only 16 lbs. (32 lbs. less than stock!). The end result is less rotating mass and less wasted horsepower in the drivetrain.

Check out Fidanza’s press release after the jump for all the info. Continue reading ‘Fidanza 3.5″ Aluminum One-Piece Driveshaft’

Ebay: Barn Find Yields 1965 Shelby GT350

August 15th, 2007 by CobraMatt

shelbygt350_3.jpg

This might not be your run of the mill barn find but this 1965 Shelby GT350 has been sitting in some owners barn in Ohio for the last 27 years as a project that never got off the ground.  The car has seen some better days with alot of rust on the body and the motor, trans and interior are completely gone.  The body is verified as a 1965 Shelby GT350 through it’s VIN# 5T09A18XXX and through the Shelby Tag that was pop-riveted on the drivers side inner fender panel.

The Shelby Tag decodes, SFM - (Shelby Ford Mustang), 5 - (model year 1965), S - (Street car).  The VIN number decodes:, 5 - (model year as 1965), T - (Metuchen, NJ assembly plant), 09 - (Fastback), A - (engine code for 289ci 4V V8 271hp high performance), 18XXXX - consecutive unit number.  In 1965 their were 516 Street production Shelby GT350’s produced and they were all made in Wimbeldon White with Black interior.

This might be a good starting point for somebody with an original 289 from a 1965 Shelby GT350 but whoever wins this auction will be putting in alot of work to get this baby back on the road. The auction has a high bid of $1K and a Buy It Now of $7500.00.  Check out the auction here.  More photos after the jump… Continue reading ‘Ebay: Barn Find Yields 1965 Shelby GT350′
