New Mustang Site StangWrecks.com Is Up

September 26th, 2007 by CobraMatt

stang_wrecks.gif

If you have noticed the slow posting around here lately it’s because I have been playing around with my new site, StangWrecks.com.  My inspiration for this site comes from a site that I visit quite often, WreckedExotics.com, it’s a site where users submit photos of exotic car wrecks, crashes, etc. and they get posted up for all to view..  So I thought why not make a Mustang site with a similar theme in mind and so StangWrecks.com was born.  I just started the site and I only have the photo section going with about 50 or so photos I gathered from around the net.  As for the video section it’s still under construction and should be up within a week or so.  I have posted 3 videos on the front page to get you in the mood.

Check it out and see the Mustang carnage for yourself, I also have a section for other Fords that include some Ford GT wrecks.

If you have any photos of your wrecked Mustang or somebody eles’s then send me an email and I will get them posted.  Credit will be given to whoever sends me the photos.

2008 ROUSH 428R Mustang Announced

September 25th, 2007 by CobraMatt

roush428r_1.jpg

For 2008, ROUSH is adding another model to their ever growing lineup, the 428R Mustang.  The 2008 428R Mustang will be a very limited edition with only 200 units produced and should be arriving at dealerships next month.  The 428R will pack the same 4.6L V8 ROUSHcharged engine as the 427R with horsepower being bumped to 435 and 400 ft-lbs. of torque.  As for the suspension, exhaust and brakes they look to be the same as the 427R.  The main exterior differences you might notice include a single set of headlamps along with a solid black bar high-flow grille and no emblem in the front.  On the inside there will be ROUSH white face gauges, sport leather seating, short throw shifter with retro ball, custom sill plates and floor mats. As with all ROUSH vehicles, the 428R comes with unique fender and decklid badges as well as a pair of engine bay plaques to authenticate this as an official ROUSH vehicle.

Another tidbit of news from ROUSH this week is they will be adding the 429R Mustang for 2009 and details have yet to be released.

After the jump you will find more information about the 428R and a high-res photo. Continue reading ‘2008 ROUSH 428R Mustang Announced’

2008 Bullitt Interior Spy Photo

September 23rd, 2007 by CobraMatt

2008bullitt_seat.jpg

Forum member ‘topnotch’ over at TheMustangSource forums posted a photo of the interior of a 2008 Bullitt production car. The photo was taken looking back on the passenger front seat from outside the car while the door was open. What you can see is the front passenger seat that looks very reminiscent to the 2001 Bullitt seats with the back seat that has the same inlay in the center of the seat. Nothing else really can be determined from the photo. This is just another spy photo to come out as we get closer and closer to the actual release date.

Below is a high-res version of the photo:

2008 Bullitt Mustang Spotted On The Streets

September 20th, 2007 by CobraMatt

2008-bullitt-spy-sn_3a.jpg

Over at Stangnet.com one of the forum members spotted a handfull of S197 Mustangs in a parking lot and among them was what looks to be a production version of the 2008 Bullitt Mustang.  Although all the Mustangs were covered he did manage to lift up the car cover and take some snapshots of the Highland Green Bullitt Mustang.  The photos don’t reveal much but they do show a plain mesh front grille, spoiler delete, no scoops or louvers, stock hood and no badges on either of the fenders.

The 2008 Bullitt which is expected to have just minor enhancements to the body and engine bay should be at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show to be unveiled but nothing has been confirmed just yet.  Take a look at the photos and see for yourself.

Shelby GT500KR Gets 10 More Horsepower

September 17th, 2007 by CobraMatt

shelby_kr_carroll.jpg

I know this is not the ground breaking news you are looking for but what the heck some of you might get excited that the 2008 Shelby GT500KR will now have 550 horsepower over the previously stated 540 HP.

Just this past week Carroll Shelby visited Ford’s proving grounds in Dearborn, Michigan where a few GT500KR prototypes were being driven and photographed.  It was there that StangsUnleashed said Ford announced the 2008 Shelby GT500KR will get an extra 10 horsepower from the previously announced 540 horsepower.  Good news all around but I am sure there are more horses just waiting to let out with a few inexpensive bolt-ons.

Photos of Carroll Shelby at Ford’s proving grounds are below.
