Since no offer of a Shelby GT500 with auto-tans. is available...It's up to us consumers to build our own. And that is exactly what I had done to my GT500. Original transmission taken out and replaced with a special built high performance automatic transmission that can handle the
torque and horsepower of the GT500. Price was $5,000.00, in addition I had to turn over the original new transmission as part of the deal.

The "Red Stripe Package" was released around the middle of October, only 600 will be produced and are only convertibles, with hood and deck lid stripes. Mine is supposed to be built the week of Nov. 26th.

I did not see that the "Red Stripe Package" was going to be available in '08. Do you think it is going to be a later edition option like in '07 or is it not going to be available at all??? Say it isn't so!

I wrote a couple months back about my wife insisting on me ordering a shelby. Well guess what, I DID, and can't hardly wait for the expected February arrival date! Of course it's the triditional white with blus stripes and hardly any other options. Believe me it will never see a drop of rain or a snow flake. I'm 62 and still have the need for speed!

The Shebly GT 500 with an auto. are you nuts. thats takes away the fun of driving it. that would be like have it without a supercharger. and i know auto in traffic is great but with that car would can drive around traffic jams.

Dave - Can I order a 2008 Shelby GT500 in the YN color (Silver Clearcoat) or is this just a Mustang color option not available on GT500's?

Dave- I ordered and now own an 07 Grabber Orange California Special! If you would like to see detailed pics head over to www.grabberorange.net and search for threads by either OctoberJoe or Saylar. We both have one and the only difference between them is that mine has the cloth top and his has vinyl.

Why in the hell do you not make a 500 horsepower shelby GT with automatic transmission. I am 46 years old and every car except one has been a high horsepower car with auto-trans. A manual transmission is too much work in rush-hour traffic. Most Americans prefer auto-trans. I want a shelby GT500 at the present cost or another $1000.00 more but, Ford doesn't offer this to us consumers. So I will move on to a GM high-horsepower car that gives me auto-trans. Wake up guys; you can sell any product in USA if you offer the right options. If there isn't an auto-trans strong enough to handle the torque; then design one (many of us would pay the cost difference-think 60's auto-trans) if you must. Tell your engineers to use there 4 years of college brains!
