*** UPDATE ***

According to AutoBlog.com, Ford got wind of the news and contacted Brad Pitt’s management and according to them they have no knowledge of Brad playing Steve McQueen in a Bullitt remake.  I guess this was just a rumor started by Monsters and Critics.  It sounded good when I read the news, oh well, just goes to show you can’t believe everything you read on the net.  ****
The ‘Bullitt’ movie made famous by it’s wild chase scene with legendary Hollywood actor Steve McQueen driving a highland green 1968 390 GT Fastback Mustang is being remade with Brad Pitt starring as Lt. Frank Bullitt. The movie has been in development since 2003 but has recently been greelighted for production. It could be a coincedence or not but in 2008 is when a new Bullitt Mustang will be introduced. I would bet anything he will be driving a 2008 Bullitt in the movie through the streets of San Francisco chasing a new Dodge Charger like in the original.

No word has been given as to when filming will begin or who his other co-stars will be but I would guess they will be some top notch actors.

In the original Bullitt movie Steve McQueen plays to rough tough detective who is on the hunt for a hitman who killed his fellow officers. The movie is best known for it’s car chase scene through the streets of San Francisco.

Wow, Hollywood truly has no original ideas left. That, or they’re too scared to try something new that they just make crap they know will do ok so nobody loses their job taking a risk. Steve McQueen is rolling over in his grave knowing a faux-liberal, Prius-driving, non-car guy actor like Brad Pitt is taking one of his greatest roles.

they are disrespecting steve mcqueen by starring brad pitt to play his role, he is no badass, he cannot drive like a real man, he is a failure.

They need guys like Tim Allen or somebody that know about muscle cars. We don’t need pretty boy in that movies. Don’t give me wrong he’s very good actor, he just not right for that part. Again, he too pretty but if they want female to get into muscle cars then sex sell I guess.

Great idea !!! Modern film tech. will make for a fantastic redo of Bullitt. However–Matt Damon might be a better choice than Brad for the lead. Using the new Bullitt Mustang and a Hemi Charger would be really interesting. Hope the film gets made……

This flick could be the pitts with Brad trying to take McQueen’s place. This role is not for a sissy-boy.

McQueen is the man why make a a redo when the original is the best….movies like Bullitt are classics let it be…

If they’re going to remake Bullitt, they should get Anthony-Michael Hall. Seriously, he’s a dead ringer for Steve McQueen and a decent actor too.

I agree that Brad Pitt is not the guy for the job. Why not use Leonardo De Caprio? Thoughts?

I have been waiting for a remake of Bullitt for a long time, I also thought of Brad Pitt to star in the role. Ever since the new Mustang has come out, I new that it would be a great idea. I really look forward to see this idea come to life. Michael Bay would be a good choice for directors. He really looks at detail. Thanks for listening.

Jason Statham with a wig? He seems to be the driver in every movie with a car in it nowadays, lol. No offense to him whatsoever I love the movies, but what’s gonna chase him? a 4 door charger, come on…maybe the new challenger?
