I had a 1969 Mustang Coupe that I had to constantly work on to keep running. It was far from the coolest car on campus but I loved it because I worked hard to make something I could be proud of instead of it being bought for me. Today I own a 1966 GT Convertible that last year earned a 2nd place in a National MCA show. I would suggest the kid find himself a Fox body Mustang and get to work. I don't think this is fair to the other kids in needs around the world.
