Ebay: Bidding Wars Have Begun For Shelby GT500KR

A few Ford dealers are starting to post auctions on Ebay for their alotment of the 2008 Shelby GT500KR and the bidding has begun with two auctions over the $100K mark already.  This is truly insane as the vehicle has not even been produced along with the fact they are making 1000 of these babies.  Producing 1000 of something is limited but if you sit back and think about it it’s really not that limited.  I just think alot of people will be taking a bath on these things a year or two down the road as the hype wears down and the new body style is introduced.  If I had a $100K+ to blow on a 500+ horsepower car why not buy a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

One of the auctions has three bids and is up to $135K and the other auction has just eclipsed the $100K mark.  Please give me your thoughts in the comments on this silliness.

I think possibly the guy running the auction should learn some grammar along with some cooth. This is not a dealer and people bidding on this auction are fools.

“So dont E- Mail me with Kiddy questions this is not a PLay Station. Its not like you can just go down and get one,if you could I would not be here. So let the persons with the funds by the Car and the drearmers move on down the road and buy Jap or what ever.”

Especially since the rumor/info corporate mills at Shelby indicate that there is a super snake already in the works to blow even the KR off the road…. Shelby Inc. is not stupid! They’re out to make money and can do so as long as they keep the cars rolling out of the facility. This is a dream come true for S/A…C/S kissed and made up with Ford..Ford needs the promo and as long as the interest keeps up, Ford will help in any way possible to keep Shelby and the GT500 name alive…Its just like the 60’s again. S/A got a gold mine in the Mustang Shelby’s. I’ll also bet that the KR production numbers will be allot higher then anticipated. The only thing which will cause a cease or slow down of production in the KR’s will be the super snake going into high gear..

These eBay KR auctions are a complete rip-off. There isn’t a Ford dealer in the country that can garantee that they will be getting a KR. If I were foolish enough to bid on any KR auction I’d demand that the dealer/seller put their money where their big fat mouth is and pay me $10K if they can’t deliver the goods.
Besides, as the post above states correctly, Shelby’s Super Snake in the 725hp trim is going to blow the doors off the KR and by the looks of it, the Super Snake will be more limited than the KR due to the Super Snake’s $28K price tag plus the cost of a GT500; so far Shelby has filled less than 400 production spots for the 2007 Super Snake run, again, due to the $28K price tag.
Don’t get suckered in by these KR auctions, you have just as good a chance of getting one by developing a relationship with your local Ford dealer and hope that they get one.
    Just my 2 cents,

It’s all about who’s buying the car. If someone really loves it and has the money why shouldn’t they buy it. We’re only here once, if you have the means and the car is your dream, then go for it. I bought a GT 500 Conv. and paid over sticker of course and have no regrets. I don’t care if it ever increases in value, I’m driving a legend and achieved my dream car…that’s all that matter’s….to me!
