Mystery Mustang GT Spotted In Detroit

Not sure this is anything to get excited about but somebody over at Popular Mechanics spotted this bright Red Mustang GT being carted around Detroit recently.  The only reason it caught their eye was because the badging was covered with black tape, the color Red is unlike any and the wheels were painted Black with a chrome lip.  Also from the pictures we notice there is no rear wing and the front grille looks to be missing completely.  When PM contacted Ford about this mystery Mustang they were given the cold shoulder with a ‘no comment’.  It’s probably some poor guy getting his car towed.

What does the Small “m” mean on the plate, that is not normal in Michigan.

Looks like a Bullitt to me - -no grill badging, the wheels, no rear deck wing - the red color is the only non-Bullitt piece.

Maybe also the future Mach 1? Probably a Bullitt though…

A few sites are saying exactly what you are Patrick about it being a Bullitt. It does have the Bullitt look and the red color is probably just a cover up by Ford. I do like those wheels.

The “M” is the new “M-plate” for MI. The blue plates are being phased out during 2007CY. It sucks too, the old blue manufacturer plates were much easier to spot.

On some mustang forums they seem to think it’s a Boss in disguise. I am just not seeing the Boss look, has the look of a Bullitt.
