One-Piece Driveshaft From Legend Mustangs

Competition in the aftermarket parts arena is a good thing and from the consumer side it’s always a win win situation because it drives prices down as two or more companies compete on the sale of similar products. With that said competition will be a little stiffer for the one-piece driveshaft market for S197 Mustang owners with the introduction of Legend Mustangs one-piece steel driveshaft that is priced 25% cheaper than JPC aluminum one-piece driveshaft weighing 17 lbs and even 60% cheaper then BMR’s Carbon Fiber one-piece driveshaft which weighs 20.7 lbs. I know all three driveshafts are made of different materials but is it worth spending the extra money to save 5-8 lbs. Could your savings be spent in another area or is that the going rate for 5-8 lbs of weight reduction. I do realize you are paying for a lighter driveshaft that in turn rotates faster and gives you more horesepower.

Driveshaft Comparison
JPC Aluminum Driveshaft - 17 lbs - $750
BMR Carbon Fiber Driveshaft - 20.7 lbs - $950
Legend Mustangs Steel Driveshaft - 25 lbs - $565.50

The new one-piece steel driveshaft from Legend Mustangs weighs in at 25 lbs and uses 1330 u-joints that can handle up to 600 horesepower. According to Legend Mustangs the steel driveshaft will provide a lifetime of service over aluminum competitors.

For me the smarter choice is obviously Legend Mustangs driveshaft but then again I have done no road or drag tests just crunching the numbers so to speak. If anyone has installed either of these on their car and given them a good run let me know how it went in the comments.
