Stangnet’s Glassback Shelby GT500 Project Car

You might remember from a previous post we mentioned Mike Raburn, owner/founder of Stangnet.com purchased a White Shelby GT500 coupe, well he took delivery back in early April and wasted no time turning it into the Glassback GT500 project for his site.  The car was purchased at Dean Sellers Ford in Troy, Michigan and from there it went straight to Classic Design Concepts for a complete makeover from the ground up.

Once at CDC the Vista Blue Stripes were carefully removed from the car to make way for the hand painted stripes instead of the stickers Ford puts on.  CDC then created a one-off custom crafted Glassback roof with matching exterior paint and stripes to give the car illusion the roof is still entact.  The exterior of the car also includes a custom massaged rear ducktail spoiler, a painted lower front spoiler, a lower front grille with driving lights and a pair of 2008 GT500 HID headlights.  Other exterior features less noticeable are the C-pillar scoops on the quarter windows, color-keyed sideview mirrors and functional brake cooling ducts where the factory fog lamps used to be.

From the photos you notice right away the lowered stance and it’s not stock, it comes courtesy of a Steeda coilover suspension.  A set of CCW SP20 19″ wheels with deep dish out back wrapped in BFGoodrich KDW tires keep this beast on the road.

In the exhaust department Mike did not cut any corners here as he added an MRT catted H-pipe mated to a stainless steel MagnaFlow catback system.

For the interior it has been kept mostly stock for now except for the Ford GT push button start system (nice touch) and a yet to be released Rockford Fosgate Mustang sound system.

If you would like to see this awesome machine in person then you are in luck because the CDC Stangnet Glassback GT500 will be at the Mid American Shelby & Ford Meet in Tulsa, Oklahoma the weekend of June 16-17.  If you can’t make the trip to Tulsa then you might want to try and make it to Vegas for the SEMA show as it will be on hand probably at the CDC booth.  With several months till the SEMA show you can probably expect to see more mods taking place with maybe a Kenne Bell twin screw under the hood.
