SteedSkins Introduces All New Leather Shift Boot

An all new product has been released from SteedSkins over at the SteedShop.com, allowing Mustang owners to upgrade their interiors with the rich look, feel, and smell of genuine leather. Currently available for 2005-2006 Mustangs, the SteedSkins brand shift boot is made from top quality automotive grade leather for a great match to the Mustang’s factory color and grain.

Not a “universal fit” product, the SteedSkins shift boot features a unique bonded ring collar top just like the factory boot, allowing it to fit snugly with the OEM style shift knob for a factory fit and look. Many of the aftermarket shift boots come with an unfinished open ended neck that doesn’t easily fit or requires fabrication to have a finished look.

“Our goal in producing this new product line was to make sure that the customer would have a factory look and fit with ease of installation”, says Sam Haymart who heads the SteedSkins brand. “We wanted something that Mustang owners could easily add to their cars without having to figure things out”.

SteedSkins proudly proclaims that their premium products are handcrafted in America. Other similar products on the market are made in China and in Romania. “Made in America means something to me”, says Haymart. “When we decided to manufacture our own line of products for the Mustang, it was the only way to go”.

Installation is easy. The new SteedSkins boot comes packaged with complete instructions and requires few if any tools to install. It uses the factory plastic boot base attachment ring which requires you to disassemble the original boot. The SteedSkins boot is precisely cut with the same attachment slots as the factory boot, which slide over the tabs on the factory boot base ring.

Some gluing with high bond rubber cement is required, available inexpensively at virtually any hardware store. Once the boot is securely attached to the factory base ring, the whole thing snaps easily into place. The top of the neck slides tightly over the base of the factory shift knob just as the factory unit does and then your are done. We consider installation to be a “2.5 hammer” job on a 1-5 scale.

SteedSkins boots are initially available to fit the 2005-2006 Mustang in factory match dark charcoal leather with matching dark charcoal stitching. Additional products will be added soon for the 2007 and up models as well as the Fox and SN-95 Mustangs built from prior to 2005. SteedSkins says they will also be adding some other color options shortly as well to include red, grey and chamois leather to match color keyed interiors.
