Apparently Motor Trend is reporting Ford is seriously considering adding another V6 engine choice for the 2010 Mustang along with replacing the aged 4.6L with a 5.0L motor. The V6 engine choice would be the new Twin Turbo EcoBoost V6 engine that is scheduled to debut in a performance version of the Fusion. The TT EcoBoost V6 engine is capable of up to 415 horsepower and similar torque numbers of regular V8 engines. The reason Ford is contemplating the new V6 engine choice is to get a head start on meeting the 35mpg regulations by 2020. Nothing has been confirmed and it would be a long shot to see a twin turbo V6 in a Mustang but it does make sense.
On the V8 engine front MT is also reporting Ford will be replacing the aged 4.6L engine with a new 5.0L motor for the 2010 Mustang and we might even see the 5.0L engine in a limited run of Mustangs at the end of the 2009 model year. All this is great news if we could really get some cold hard facts to back it up. Until then we can all just cross our fingers and hope for the best.
If you are looking to build a Mustang collection and are short on time then check out this Ebay auction where a guy in Puerto Rico has a massive collection of 103 Mustangs along with a huge collection of parts for the sale price of $950K. The collection includes a long list of various 60’s & 70’s era Mustangs with a few newer model GT Mustangs thrown in to round out the collection. Also with the cars you get a huge collection of new and used Mustang parts that include some 37 engines, 400 wheel covers, 21 carburators with the list going on and on.
Some of the highlighted Mustangs include 1968 Shelby GT350 convertible, 1969 Cobra Jet 428 R Code, 1968 Shelby GT500KR, 1969 Shelby GT500 coupe, 1968 Shelby, 1969 Fastback 390 S Code, a few 1970’s Mach 1’s. This is definately a very impressive collection of Mustangs and parts that will sure draw some interest from the states. Getting all the parts and cars back to the US might be a challenger but the owner has said if someone uses the buy it now feature shipping will be free.
It’s not just another 2010 Mustang spy photo as most people might think but we may be looking at the 2010 Shelby GT500 in disguise. There are three reasons why I think this is the 2010 Shelby GT500 and the first is in plain site, the Cobra Snake Emblem seen on all 07-08 GT500’s is right there hissing at you, second thing I noticed are the wheels which are the Shelby GT500’s, the final thing is the raised level of the hood. We already know there will be another 2010 Shelby GT500 so are best guess is that this is it. Check out the larger photo below and you make your own conclusions.
Also over at AutoBlog.com they have other body shots and an interior spy pic but not much can be seen as Ford has the dash and console all covered up. Check out all the photos here.

Unfortunately I could not be on hand this year like previous year’s to soak in all that Barrett-Jackson has to offer but AutoBlog’s Drew Phillips was there to catch all the action as the First 2008 Shelby GT500KR crossed the auction block. According to Drew the Shelby GT500KR #0001 sold for $605,000 including the auction fees to Ron Pratte, who has previously bought almost every first Shelby Mustang including Shelby’s personal twin-supercharged Super Snake last year. The first Shelby GT500KR was truly a one-of-a-kind Mustang with it’s Glass Roof that’s not even available on 2008 models. Even the legend himself Carroll Shelby was on hand to send the car off to the new owner Ron Pratte. All proceeds from the sale of this one-of-a-kind KR went to benefit the Juvenlile Diabetes Research Foundation.

PowerTV, who has recently become a player in online automotive viral videos has been exposed by SpankMyMarketer.com for being a ‘Viral Video Marketing Company’ or as they like to call them Spammers who work for some of the top names in the automotive industry including General Motors, Dynomax, Holley ,Comp Cams and SEMA promoting their products.
What is a Viral Video Marketing Company, well SpankMyMarketer has summed it up quite nicely as a company that produces videos for clients, and then promotes the videos for them online, using viral marketing tactics through various social networks like automotive forums.
You might be asking yourself what does this have to do with Mustangs, well you may have noticed PowerTV has been promoting their videos pretty heavily through various forums on several if not all Mustang websites by way of forum members with the names powermelissa, powerjon, poweramanda, powerscott and nmrajames. The only reason they join Mustang forums is to promote their videos as with an example here at MustangHeaven.com where powermelissa only posts threads linking to videos on their site. Like with MustangHeaven’s forums several other Mustang forums have banned these members for repeatedly creating these spamming threads with links to their videos.
Even though this practice is not illegal it’s unethical because as members of the forum PowerTV staff is not there to contribute but to promote and profit off what they write and link to. Mustang forums are not alone as they have also been hitting hundreds of other automotive sites around the net.
It’s definately a fascinating read about PowerTV, who their key players are and what they do. Check it out on SpankMyMarketer.com.
Not sure how old this interview is but 67mustangblog.com posted this video on youtube of Carroll Shelby sitting down with Fortune’s Sue Callaway for a one-on-one interview on CNN. Carroll talks about growing up in Dallas, his first car, his businesses and his health issues. The interview has two parts with the first one above, the second video can be seen after the jump. At this year’s Barrett-Jackson collector car auction Ford & Shelby are teaming up to auction the already rare Shelby GT500KR #0001 off for charity. To make the one-of-one Ebony black GT500KR even more rare it will feature the same full glass roof that is being offered as an option on the 2009 Mustang V6 & GT models. The GT500KR also features racing stripes over the glass roof which had to be etched directly on the glass. It’s definately a great marketing ploy along with good business sense to include the glass roof into the Shelby GT500KR Mustang with all the viewers on Speed watching. The exposure at Barrett-Jackson and on the Speed channel can only help slumping sales of the Mustang. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Saleen Autosport is celebrating their 25th year of operation by producing a limited edition SA-25 Sterling Edition Mustang. Like with all their anniversaries models only 25 models will be produced to correspond to the years in business at a pricetag of $99,995.
Producing limited-edition anniversary Saleen’s is nothing new as they have done this for the last 25 years every 5 years. In 1988 they produced the SA-5, SA-10 in 1993, SA-15 in 1998, SA-20 in 2003 and now the SA-25 which will be by far the most powerfull of all the anniversary models.
The SA-25 is based off the S302 Extreme and will get the same supercharged engine producing 620 horsepower & 600 lb-ft of torque with a push-button electric start. Some exterior features that will make the SA-25 more unique include 5-spoke forged wheels, handpainted “Gun Sight” racing stripes and anniversary fender badges. Interior treatments will include Black Diamond alcantara seats with leather accents, a navigation system and serialized plaque.
For buyers purchasing the SA-25 they will be treated with nothing but the best by getting a first class flight to Detroit, limo transportation from the airport, dinner with Saleen brass, a hosted tour of the Saleen plant, and a custom leather jacket among other things. No details on when the limited edition Saleen will be available.
