Ebay: Pre-Production 2008 Bullitt Mustang #1PP16

March 14th, 2008 by CobraMatt

1pp16_bullitt_2.jpg

It’s not often you see a pre-production Mustang of any year up for auction or sale let alone this 2008 Bullitt Mustang.  This 2008 Bullitt is a pre-production model with a wacky serial #1PP16 which according to the auction was a Ford Motor Company corporate use vehicle possibly used for dyno testing because of the condition of the car.  The condition is a bit of a mystery in itself because the Bullitt has 52K miles and with those kind of miles you would think there should be a considerable amount of wear on the car, well guess again.  According to Maibach Ford who is selling it the brakes and tires have little to no wear at all on them along with the interior looking like nobody has ever sat in it.  This leads them to believe the car was solely used for dyno testing which makes complete sense.

This pre-production Bullitt is definately a piece of history that somebody will enjoy either sitting in a collection or being driven on the road.  The Buy It Now price is set at a reasonable $25K considering the vehicle and miles.  Check out the auction here.

Shelby CS69 Wheels For My Next Mustang, 20×9

March 13th, 2008 by CobraMatt

Even though my next car is still sitting on some dealers lot somewhere unclaimed by me, I have been looking over some wheel choices to kind of get an idea of what might look nice on my next Mustang. Since I am 99.9% sure my next Mustang will be of the S197 flavor I have been looking mostly at wheels that will fit 2005-08 Mustangs.

The only wheels that really catch my eye are made by Carroll Shelby, the CS69 model with the Black inlay. I noticed they only came in 20’s (20×9 or 20×10) and I am ok with that, I actually like the way they fill up the space. One thing I have noticed is most owners will opt for the 20×10’s for the rear instead of having 20×9’s all the way around. The 20×10 actually has a deeper dish then the 20×9 and I am not a big fan of that. I think if I did buy a set of these I would just get the 20×9 for all four corners. I found a bunch of S197 Mustangs with the wheels on them which are after the jump. The only color I did not find that I really wanted to get a look at was White.  Take a look at the Grabber Orange Mustang with CS69 wheels, it looks pretty sweet.

For the tires I think there is really only one way to go and that is with some Nitto NT 555’s all around.  I had the NT 555’s on my 2003 Cobra and they just really did the job for me.  Never had any issues and the ride quality just felt better than any other tires I have ever had, it could have also been the IRS but I doubt it. More Proof Idiots Work at Top Gear, Shelby GT not GT500

March 10th, 2008 by CobraMatt

This time it’s the other co-host of Top Gear, Richard Hammond who makes himself look like an idiot. In the video he races a remote controlled car against a Shelby GT not a Shelby GT500 as he states. You can clearly tell it’s the Shelby GT and not a Shelby GT500, any 5-year old could tell you that. Makes you wonder if they are doing this on purpose or are they really that stupid. Thanks for the tip ‘Chris’.

Idiots at Top Gear, V6 Mustang vs. Horse not V8

March 9th, 2008 by CobraMatt

This just gives us further evidence about the british show Top Gear and what idiots they have working for them. In the video host Jeremy Clarkson claims a 300 Horsepower Mustang goes up against a single Horse when in reality it’s a V6 Mustang automatic convertible doing the rounds on the track, probably the slowest Mustang they could have used. It’s plain as day how you can tell the Mustang is not a V8 from how it sounds to the one muffler out back along with the front grille. The show has always bashed Ford Mustangs for unknown reasons but this time they are really trying to make the car look bad.

Roush Performance is teaming up with Ford Motor Company to auction the last 2008 ROUSH P-51A Mustang (#151 of 151) built at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Collector car auction on Saturday March 29th.  ROUSH produced 151 limited edition P-51A Mustangs with 510 horsepower & 510 lb. ft of torque which is the most horsepower ever put into a ROUSH Mustang.  The ROUSH P-51A Mustang also marks the first time ROUSH upgraded the engine with forged internals. The internals needed to be upgraded so the engine could withstand the additional horsepower generated from newest ROUSHcharger super-charger system.  Other extras include stitched leather seating, aggresive aerobody kit, 4-piston brake calipers and 5-spoke forged wheels.  The ROUSH P-51A Mustang is lot #667 and comes right after the two KITT’s from the tv movie Knight Rider.

February Mustang Sales Figures Released

March 3rd, 2008 by CobraMatt

mustang_sales_figures_down.jpg

Not much was expected with the reporting of Februay Mustang sales as we could have already written this post a month ago. Mustang sales were down again from the previous year although there is an upside to things as sales from January to February actually increased 1207 units or 15.5%. This is definately some positive news that Ford can build on for this months sales.

Sales of Mustangs for February of 2008 were 7,752 compared to 10,772 from February of 2007 showing a 28% drop in sales from the previous year. Year to date sales for 2008 Mustangs are 14,297 compared to 19,836 for the first two months of 2007, which is a 27.9% drop.

If you are curious what the previous month sales were then check out January sales figures here.

Yes I Did It, I Sold My 2003 Cobra Convertible

March 3rd, 2008 by CobraMatt

2003_cobra_sold.jpg

Some may call this an act of stupidity but about two weeks ago I sold my 2003 Cobra Convertible for no reason at all. Everybody that I have told keeps asking me why did you sell your Cobra, it was your dream car. I can honestly say it was my dream car back in 2003 but I am not a person to keep cars for long periods of time nor do I really get attached to the Mustangs I buy. I like to drive a Mustang for a few years and then get something new which I will be doing in the coming month. I do still have my 1992 5.0 LX convertible which I will be driving to and from work until I find my next prize.

So my journey begins for my next Mustang which I have already been scouring autotrader and Ebay for. I have narrowed my next Mustang choice down to a 2006-07 GT coupe or convertible, maybe a GT/CS or Shelby GT or if I can find another 03-04 Terminator with real low miles I might jump on it. I really want to upgade to a newer style Mustang so that is mostly what I will be searching for. I really like the way 2007-08 California Special Mustangs look but I only like White. Color is another thing I should mention, I will only buy a Yellow, White, Silver and maybe Grabber Orange but I am not really sure about that color, it just looks to blah although I do like how it stands out. So that is basically what I am looking for, I will keep updating everybody on my search.

One of these days I am going to put up a page with photos telling all about the Mustangs I have owned.
