Mustang Blog’s Project Power Wheels Shelby GT

Project Power Wheels Shelby GT is officially underway after a long and extensive search of Craigslist for the donor vehicle. Our donor car is a white 2006 or so Power Wheels Mustang made by Fisher Price with pink stripes and purple interior. The mini Mustang will eventually be a gift for my son on Christmas. From the photos you can clearly see this car was originally meant for a young lady but with a few minor tweaks I will have this thing looking like my Shelby GT.

I have already begun the process of ordering parts, yes you can actually order parts for these things. I ordered a new black interior, Silver racing stripes from Ebay and a windshield. For the wheels I will just be painting them with Chrome spray paint. Other mods like fender badges, hood pins and the front grille will have to be custom. If anybody has any input on this project please post in the comments, otherwise check back often and soon for updates.

I like the idea. The fender badges, silver stripes, and hood pins are a must. Chrome spray paint really doesn’t look anything like chrome, so you may want to at least test it on something else so you know what it will look like. Onother option may be looking for other wheels.

I have a white mustang coupe with silver le mans and rocker stripes, and was thinking about changing the stripes to pink when giving it to my daughter, but this picture has deterred that thought. I suppose a pink paint job with white stripes might look fun though…

I will have to look into ordering the chrome wheels. I have seen other Power Wheel Mustangs with them so I would imagine you can order them.
