News that Ford Motor Company had reached the 9 Million mark with Mustang sales has been all over the net in recent weeks and now the mystery of where the car has landed is over. The lucky owner of the 9 Millionth Mustang is farmer Thomas Krumm from rural Story City, Iowa who ordered his Vista Blue Mustang GT convertible unknowingly through his local Ford dealer. Today is the Ford Mustang’s 44th Birthday. Back on April 17, 1964 Ford Dealerships around the country started selling the Mustang to a frenzy of buyers. The day before Ford ran simultaneous commercials at 9:30pm on all three major TV networks, ABC, NBC, and CBS. Then on April 17, 1964 thousands of people decended on dealerships around the country to be the first to own a Mustang. On the first day Ford sold 22,000 Mustangs. By the end of 1964 Ford had sold 263,434, and by the first anniversary, April 17, 1965 Ford sold 418,812 Mustangs. The rest is history, Happy Birthday Ford Mustang.

A man by the name of Charles Ales from Frogtown, Kansas has decided to turn his passion for collecting Mustangs into a religion by starting the ‘Mustang Church of America’. Charles, who is retired from 34 years of teaching math has built a 100-by-70-foot building to house his Mustangs, the Church and living quarters for himself. If you think this is a joke think again because Charles and his adopted son are actually ordained through the Universal Ministry School of Theology to make this legit. He has also come up with a logo to represent the Church that includes the traditional Christian fish symbol with a Mustang running horse in the middle.
He plans to open the Church and Museum in August or September with dreams of inviting automotive legend Carroll Shelby to the dedication. Continue reading ‘Mustang Collector Starts ‘Mustang Church of America’’

With the upcoming 45th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang taking place in April of 2009, Mustangs Across America has organized a cruise across our great country starting in my favorite city Las Vegas and ending in Birmingham, AL to commemorate the event. The end of the cruise will mark the beginning of the 3-day 45th Anniversary event put on by the Mustang Club of America at Barber Motorsports Park on April 16-19th. The 45th Anniversary event will be the biggest gathering of Mustangs on the planet with as many as 6000 Mustangs from all over the country and world attending the car show and open track events.
The Mustangs Across America cruise will start with a kick-off and welcome reception in Las Vegas Friday April 10, 2009 with the actual cruise starting the next day. According to a CBS news affiliate in Dallas the state and local police have wrapped up their investigation into Unique Performance with the Farmers Branch Police Department preparing 25 felony cases against the executives including owner Doug Hasty.
It’s all up to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office to take those cases to the grand jury. Of those 25 felony cases it’s unknown how many will actually be brought against the execs. “It’s a complicated case, so once they go over all the cases that were presented to them, then they’ll decide the appropriate charges to file,” explains Cpl. Chad Taylor with the Farmers Branch Police Department.
For now it’s just a waiting game to see what charges if any will be brought against the exces of Unique Performance. For full coverage of the continuing saga that is Unique Performance check out CBS 11’s articles and photos here.

For one 2003 Cobra owner who was caught street racing illegally in Charlotte, North Carolina he payed the ultimate price of having his ride confiscated by police. The Cobra along with a 2005 350Z were caught street racing in South Charlotte and are now property of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police HITS (Highway Interdiction and Safety) Unit.
According to CMPD Captain Andy Kornberg “If you get caught street racing, we’re going to take your car and I’m going to enjoy driving it.” Now the police are using the cars in Charlotte to combat street racing, speeders and aggresive drivers who break the law. Instead of hiding behind billboards in marked cars “We are going to hide in plain sight,” said Kornberg who vows to stop illegal street racing by setting a precedant to other street racers, if you get caught racing we will take your car.
