All we have so far is a picture but we do know Saleen is unveiling this Power Sliding Glass Roof for the S197 Mustang at the New York International Auto Show this week. From the looks of the photo above Saleen is partnering with ASC to create this Power Sliding Glass Roof. Also in the photo you can see how the roof slides back over the rear window, not sure what it’s sliding on though. I guess we will have to wait for the press release and photos which should come any day. For those who don’t know Saleen and ASC are owned by the same company and are also partnering to build the 650 horsepower mid-engine S5S Raptor.

It’s a big week for Saleen with the unveiling of the S5S Raptor at the New York Auto show and now news about the 2008 Dan Gurney Signature Edition Saleen Mustang. The Gurney Signature Edition Saleen features a supercharged 4.6-liter V8 producing 465 horsepower along with Saleen’s racecraft suspension and a paint scheme reminiscent of Burney’s 1969 Trans Am race car. Exterior body features include a unique hood with hood pins, front and rear spoilers. Only 300 limited edition cars will be built in three colors (100 each); Torch Red, Performance White, and Vista Blue with each receiving Dan Gurney’s autograph under the hood.

Even though my next car is still sitting on some dealers lot somewhere unclaimed by me, I have been looking over some wheel choices to kind of get an idea of what might look nice on my next Mustang. Since I am 99.9% sure my next Mustang will be of the S197 flavor I have been looking mostly at wheels that will fit 2005-08 Mustangs.
The only wheels that really catch my eye are made by Carroll Shelby, the CS69 model with the Black inlay. I noticed they only came in 20’s (20×9 or 20×10) and I am ok with that, I actually like the way they fill up the space. One thing I have noticed is most owners will opt for the 20×10’s for the rear instead of having 20×9’s all the way around. The 20×10 actually has a deeper dish then the 20×9 and I am not a big fan of that. I think if I did buy a set of these I would just get the 20×9 for all four corners. I found a bunch of S197 Mustangs with the wheels on them which are after the jump. The only color I did not find that I really wanted to get a look at was White. Take a look at the Grabber Orange Mustang with CS69 wheels, it looks pretty sweet.
For the tires I think there is really only one way to go and that is with some Nitto NT 555’s all around. I had the NT 555’s on my 2003 Cobra and they just really did the job for me. Never had any issues and the ride quality just felt better than any other tires I have ever had, it could have also been the IRS but I doubt it. Check out these new ROUSH vent gauge pods for mounting some extra gauges on your S197 stang. They kinda remind me of when Saleen came out with something similar for the fox-body vents, it was definately the must have aftermarket option back then even if your gauges were not hooked up. The ROUSH vent mounted gauges look oh so cool and they don’t even obstruct any airflow from the A/C system although just straight forward airflow is all you get, hey it’s something. The vent pods cost just $29.99 and will take standard 2-1/16 inch gauges. No cutting or drilling is required to install the vent gauge pods which install in minutes.
After the jump I have included another photo and the press release for more information. Continue reading ‘New Roush Vent Gauge Pods For S197 Mustangs’

Drew over at Modern Mustang Muscle sent us a tip about a new product Saleen is set to announce for S197 Mustang owners, the ShakerCharger. The ShakerCharger from Saleen will sit directly above the twin-screw supercharger to provide S197 owners with a functional shaker hood scoop and forced induction. The ShakerCharger hood scoop assembly is made from injection molded plastic, contains a high-flow air filter that is 50% larger then the OEM filter and requires a cutout in the hood to be installed. No prices have been released nor any official details but look for these kits to be available sometime in May.

Jack Roush, motorsports legend and performance Mustang builder has announced his 2008 appearance schedule which coincides with 8 of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events around the country. Mr. Roush will appear the Thursday evening before each of the scheduled NASCAR events at one of the larger volume ROUSH authorized Ford dealersips in the area. At each event you will have the chance to meet Mr. Roush and obtain his autograph at no charge. Each Ford dealership he visits will include other entertainment and a car show to mark his visit.
Looks like I will be heading over to the Grand Prairie Ford location on April 3rd to meet the legend and get his autograph as it’s only 10 minutes from my house. Pretty sweet how he makes time to attend all these dealerships to meet with his fans. After the jump I have listed the full schedule of dates and locations. Saleen Autosport is celebrating their 25th year of operation by producing a limited edition SA-25 Sterling Edition Mustang. Like with all their anniversaries models only 25 models will be produced to correspond to the years in business at a pricetag of $99,995.
Producing limited-edition anniversary Saleen’s is nothing new as they have done this for the last 25 years every 5 years. In 1988 they produced the SA-5, SA-10 in 1993, SA-15 in 1998, SA-20 in 2003 and now the SA-25 which will be by far the most powerfull of all the anniversary models.
The SA-25 is based off the S302 Extreme and will get the same supercharged engine producing 620 horsepower & 600 lb-ft of torque with a push-button electric start. Some exterior features that will make the SA-25 more unique include 5-spoke forged wheels, handpainted “Gun Sight” racing stripes and anniversary fender badges. Interior treatments will include Black Diamond alcantara seats with leather accents, a navigation system and serialized plaque.
For buyers purchasing the SA-25 they will be treated with nothing but the best by getting a first class flight to Detroit, limo transportation from the airport, dinner with Saleen brass, a hosted tour of the Saleen plant, and a custom leather jacket among other things. No details on when the limited edition Saleen will be available.

The 2008 Steeda QS6 is the right car at the right time, at least thats what Steeda thinks. With gas prices hovering around $3/gallon in several states most V8 Mustang owners are feeling it in the wallet. Some V8 Mustang owners may be able to whether the storm while others are selling their gas guzzling V8’s for other vehicles that get better gas mileage.
One answer could be to get a Honda but if your a loyal Mustang owner then there is only one way to go and thats down to a V6. If you have to have a Mustang then Steeda has the answer, their Steeda QS6 Mustang has a V6 engine that puts down 355 horsepower and 365 ft. lbs. of torque by way of a roots type supercharger sitting atop the V6 powerplant. Other standard features to the Steeda QS6 include Cold Air Induction Kit, a Custom Steeda Tune, 14″ front and 13″ rear braking system, stainless axle-back exhaust, Steeda suspension goodies, short throw shifter, steeda ultralite wheels and more.
If you are not interested in the whole QS6 package don’t worry Steeda is rolling out V6 specific parts that can be purchased separately to fit individual styles.
