It might be a match made in heaven as Kenne Bell and Shelby Autos are teaming up to equip the 725 horsepower Shelby GT500 “Super Snake” with a Kenne Bell 2.8H Billet Twin Screw kit. The twin screw kit was specifically designed for the Shelby GT500 ‘Super Snake’ to increase horsepower to the 725 mark. Shelby Autos decided on the 2.8H because of its ultra high efficiency, compact design, unique ‘Mammoth’ inlet system and proven performance. The kit which is not warrantied by Ford or Shelby Autos includes an upgraded billet twin 75mm throttle body and one piece aliminum driveshaft. The 725 horsepower ‘Super Snake’ package costs $27,995 and is only available on coupes because of the lack of structural rigidity in convertibles. A 600 horsepower 2.3 roots type kit will be available for convertible models.

A former employee of Unique Performance posted up his thoughts or shall I say his rant on a previous post of “Shelby Severing Ties” to let everybody know the real story through his eyes on why the company is where it is. Usually comments to any specific post get pushed under the covers so to speak but I thought this comment was quite interesting so I decided to post it up to share with everybody. The former employee does make some rather engaging talking points with his bold accusations about Doug Hasty and the company he founded. Give it a read after the jump, it’s quite lengthy… Continue reading ‘Ex-Employee of Unique Performance Tells All’

It seems like the world is crumbling around Texas-based Unique Performance with yet another big name jumping ship. Foose Design has announced they are cutting all business ties and terminating all licensing activites with Unique Performance. This means the partnership with Foose on the Foose Mustang, Foose Camaro, Foose Challenger and Foose Motorcycle along with the sales and marketing of the Hemisfear have been cancelled. This news adds to Shelby severing ties and Unique getting raided last week by the local police for an alleged title-washing scheme. Foose Design wants to let it’s customers know they now have no affiliation with Unique Performance whatsoever.

Making your Mustang go fast is what ROUSH does best and with a newly enhanced ROUSHcharger system they are doing just that by increasing overall output an additional 30 horsepower over the previous setup. The addition of this new ROUSHcharger setup will increase any 2005-08 Mustang GT from the stock 300 horsepower to 445 horsepower with 418 lb.-ft. of torque, a 48% jump.
Where do these extra horses come from you ask, well according to ROUSH the added ponies come from changing to a slightly smaller pulley along with an enhanced PCM calibration to take advantage of the higher spin rate. It’s basically what 2003-04 Cobra owners have been doing with there roots type blowers to gain horsepower.
Read all about it in the press release after the jump… Continue reading ‘ROUSHcharger System Adds 30 More Horsepower’

Steeda’s design team has come through again with a new High Capacity Heat Exchanger for Shelby GT500 applications. The heat exchanger has a whopping 166% larger coolant capacity over the stock unit and reduces air charge tempatures while increasing horsepower.
When comparing the stock GT500 heat exchanger to Steeda’s it looks like a case of David vs. Goliath, Steeda’s heat exchanger looks to be three times the size of the OEM unit. The increased size of Steeda’s heat exchanger provides over 100% cooling capacity in Shelby GT500 applications which results in drastically reduced air inlet temperatures increasing supercharger power output.

Installation for this beast according to Steeda can be done in approximately 4.5 hours if you have a moderate level of experience under the hood and some basic hand tools. Continue reading ‘Steeda’s New High Capacity Heat Exchanger For GT500′

It looks like Saleen Inc. has been under investigation for some time for selling uncertified cars in California. Recently the Air Resources Board announced a $700K settlement with Saleen for selling three different models illegally including the Saleen Focus N20, Focus S121 and S281 Mustang. The cars were purchased brand new from Ford in 2004-05 to be modified by Saleen and later sold for use or registration in California, despite the fact that due to those modifications, they were no longer certified under California law. More specifically the tailpipe emissions had a negative effect on air quality according to the ARB.
“We hope that this case will serve as a deterrent to others who may be planning to profit by selling uncertified vehicles,” said Lynn Terry, ARB acting executive officer. “California vehicles are designed to be the cleanest in the nation. Tampering with emission control systems to enhance speed and performance can increase smog-forming emissions, which is especially harmful in areas such as Southern California where smog continues to exceed state and federal air quality standards.”
