May 10th, 2007 by CobraMatt

Street Scene Equipment has a new product out for S197 Mustang crowd in the form of a black out panel for center section of the rear valance.  The black out panel (part# 950-73750) covers up everything except the key hole and has sort of a stealth look to it.The panel uses durable ABS plastic with a factory style texture and attaches to the rear valance with special adhesives for easy installation.  The panel can be ordered for GT and V6 models, no word yet on cost but Street Scene says it’s priced competitively.

Installing A Factory Navigation System Into 2005 Stang

May 9th, 2007 by CobraMatt

navigation_2005.jpg

While surfing the many Mustang forums I visit on a daily basis yesterday I came across a thread over at themustangsource.com where forum member ‘mrkabc’ replaced the stock Shaker 1000 head unit out of his 2005 Mustang convertible with a brand new factory Navigation unit.  Up until this year navigation units were not available to order on your Mustang and are now available on most models including the GT500.

According to the thread installation can be handled with some basic hand tools and can be completed in about 1.5 hours.  The tools needed are a 7mm nutdriver, phillips screwdriver and a panel puller.  The installation is very well documented with high-res photos at each step.  Check out the installation here.

Steeda Jumps Aboard Introducing Their GT500 Tuner

May 8th, 2007 by CobraMatt

Steeda Autosports has decided to join the party all be it a little late with their new modified Steeda GT500.  They chose to unveil the car at the 2007 Camp Steeda/SVT Owners Association Open Track event at Sebring International Raceway last weekend.  Steeda uses the base GT500 as a starting point and then adds the basic parts like a cold air intake, a tune and a supercharger pulley.  Those parts alone would add considerable horsepower gains but Steeda always thinking bigger adds a full host of suspension parts, brakes, wheels, shifter and stainless steel exhaust to take the GT500 to the ultimate level.

One thing Steeda forgot to mention in their news release was how much power will this baby put down.  My guess on horsepower would be at least 600 and maybe even more after it gets tuned just right.  I am not sure Steeda will be selling to many of these at the asking price of $13,995 for the upgrade, so if you are lucky enough or dumb enough to spend that kind of money you may want to hold on to it because it should be pretty rare.

High-res photos and the official Steeda press release after the jump…… Continue reading ‘Steeda Jumps Aboard Introducing Their GT500 Tuner’

April 27th, 2007 by CobraMatt

I know what you are thinking and your probably asking yourself why does a V6 Mustang need a performance clutch.  Well because these days you can take a stock V6 Mustang right off the dealer lot and add some bolt-ons, a supercharger or turbo to make as much if not more reliable horsepower and torque then your basic GT for thousands less.  It’s a scary thought for most GT owners but it’s the plain simple truth that there are V6 Mustangs running around that could give some GT owners a run for their money.

To give V6 Mustang owners some piece of mind who have high torque, high horsepower applications Centerforce is introducing a new Dual Friction clutch assembly for 2005-07 Ford Mustangs with the 4.0L V6 engine.  Continue reading ‘New Dual Friction Centerforce Clutch For V6 Mustangs’

If you feel the 500 horsepower on a stock GT500 is not enough then check out this new supercharger upgrade from Ford Racing who is introducing a TVS (Twin Vortices Series) 2.3L M140 Roots-type supercharger specifically for the already potent Shelby GT500.  The supercharger will come in a kit that includes a new cold air intake system and a Ford Racing hand held programmer.  The upgrade will add an additional 120 horsepower and 90 lb. ft. of torque for low price of $5,600.00.

The kit is available for purchase over at RoushPerformance.com.

Add 144 Hp To Shelby GT500 With Steeda Products

April 13th, 2007 by CobraMatt

gt500_cai_w-inlet_550.jpg

Forget about buying the Shelby GT500 KR with 540 horsepower for upwards of $50K, why not just buy a Shelby GT500 and add two bolt-ons plus a tune from Steeda for an extra 144 hp at around $1500.  Steeda has come out with a new Cold Air Kit specifically designed for the Shelby GT500 that produces the greatest power gains of any kit on the market combined with their Custom SCT Tune.  The horsepower generated from the kit and tune equal 97 additional horsepower to the rear wheels.  If you add Steeda’s Supercharger pulley to those two mods horsepower jumps to 144 additional rear wheel horsepower and they have the dyno results to prove it. One-Of-A-Kind BlackJack ROUSH Convertible Sells For $225K

March 27th, 2007 by CobraMatt

roushconvertible.jpg

While I was away on vacation ROUSH dropped news about building a one-of-a-kind BlackJack convertible Stage 3 Mustang to be auctioned off for charity at the Celebrity Fight Night event in Phoenix, Arizona on March 24th in cooperation with Sanderson Ford of Glendale, AZ.  According to ROUSH they originally thought they were only going to build all coupes but decided otherwise.  The auction has come and gone and the vehicle sold for $225K to a lucky anonymous bidder, probably Arizona businessman Ron Pratte who has bought just about every other rare Mustang on the planet.  The convertible BlackJack Mustang is serialized with Lucky number 13.  For all the details on this one-of-a-kind vehicle check out ROUSH’s press release after the jump. ROUSH Wants Answers For The 2010 ROUSH Mustang

March 16th, 2007 by CobraMatt

roush_survey.jpg

No I am not a ROUSH shill but it seems like it with all these blog entries this week.  I guess we can officially call this ROUSH week and in keeping with the theme I thought why not add another entry to the fire.  ROUSH has put up a survey wanting input for the development of the 2010 ROUSH Mustang asking various questions about styling, handling and horsepower to get some feedback.  I am not sure how long this survey has been up or how long it will stay up but if you have a few mintues head on over to RoushPerfMarketing.com and fill out the survey.

Don’t you wish Ford did something like this for the 2010 Mustang, that would be to easy now wouldn’t it.

roushwheels_sm.jpg

This week is an explosion of ROUSH news with the Louvers and the Drag Pak Mustang in the previous posts and now these 8 wheel packages available from ROUSH.  I can hardly keep up, but thank goodness for press releases.  I will post the release below and let you tear into it.  My favorite is the RR05 in black, whats yours?

Press Release:

ROUSH Performance offers a complete line of wheel packages which makes giving your Ford Mustang the ROUSH look as easy as removing the lug nuts.

There are eight styles available for the Mustang in either a chrome or black painted finish.  Some models are forged, while others are cast.  Forged wheels are typically lighter and stronger than a cast model, though they are slightly more expensive.  All packages are sold with a high-performance tire or just the wheel separately.
