Looks like somebody’s parents wouldn’t buy him a Mustang for their first car so instead of working for the money like most normal teenagers, David Nelson of Bettendorf, Iowa has decided to take his campaign to the web. David has put up a site called MustangFund.com and his goal is to raise $17K to buy a used Convertible 2005-07 Mustang through donations via Paypal. As of writing this he has not received one donation toward his Mustang but it’s early so check back in a week to see what kind of progress this kid has made.

Press Release by Sam Haymart: Starting in 2003 out of a humble garage, Mustang enthusiast Sam Haymart began collecting Mustang toy cars, accessories, and related collectibles to sell on his retail website, www.SteedShop.com. Back then, the store only had ten to fifteen products that ranged from die-cast Mustang models to enthusiast cult movies on DVD like Bullitt and Gone in Sixty Seconds. It was a hobby that supported itself.
The on-line store was born because Sam and his many Mustang pals found it nearly impossible to find a good selection of Mustang related products all in one place. “If I wanted Mustang or Ford logo t-shirts or Mustang toys for my kids I had to shop all over town or wait for a big car show,” says Haymart. “There was no single place that specialized in Mustang collectibles, gifts or clothing.”
Three years later, the venture has grown to become a full service on-line retail outlet. In August of this year the decision was made to take the store to a new level, becoming a full time business. The product line has been expanded - literally tripled in size. SteedShop.com now boasts one the largest selections of Mustang and Ford logo apparel, die-cast cars, garage décor, memorabilia, gifts and collectibles anywhere.
The store now features over 350 Mustang and Ford related products. There are over 100 different die-cast car models alone. Unlike many outlets, www.SteedShop.com features all vintages of Mustang models from 1964 ½ through 2007. There are even some rare antique Mustang replicas that are over 40 years old. The new Mustang models range from affordable toys like “Dub City Customs” that you can give the kids to high-end collectible models from Franklin Mint and AutoArt that are better displayed in a bookcase.
“Die-cast cars are something that everyone loves from young to old,” Haymart says. “Some aren’t for kids however, so we carry a line of less expensive toys just for them.” The toy section includes remote control Mustangs, motorized cars and model kits for the hobbyist as well.
The major component of the expansion is the apparel line. Ford Racing, Roush Racing, and Mustang logo casual and formal wear are center stage. “We really wanted to offer the best quality items we could find,” says Haymart. “People will really like the new Jackets, T-Shirts, and other gear we carry.” The selection of apparel ranges from inexpensive baseball caps and logo watches all the way to plush wool outerwear and jewelry.
Closer to Sam’s heart is the collection of rare Mustang memorabilia items for sale at www.SteedShop.com. An avid collector of Mustang memorabilia, brochures, and dealer literature he has amassed an eclectic mix of items that will surprise many enthusiasts. The items include vintage advertising, rare and unique brochures, posters, and even a few rare press kits. “One of the items we came across were some brochures for the 2000 SVT Mustang Cobra,” says Haymart. “What’s rare about them is that the car was never built.” Ford cancelled production of the 2000 model year Cobra before they began building them but the dealers already had sales material on the cars.
The expansion of www.SteedShop.com comes just in time for Christmas. The store is stocked up and ready to deliver for the holidays. “We stock most everything we sell”, Haymart says. “Many on-line and catalog stores order out and drop ship most of their items”. The store displays the shipping and stock status of all items so customers know when to expect their purchases. By keeping items in stock, they can take full advantage of fast USPS Priority shipping services that are standard fare.
The operation is a labor of love for Sam who has been a Mustang enthusiast for over 20 years. He began building his first Mustang at age 14. Later he began organizing cross country Mustang road trips called Mustangs Across America, which have gained international attention and a documentary on the Discovery Channel. His company Steed Publications also operates the Mustang enthusiast news site www.TheMustangNews.com , which is fast becoming one of the most respected and comprehensive Mustang and Ford news outlets on the net.

What do you get when you mate a 2003 Cobra with 390 horsepower to a 65 Mustang Fastback? Well you get what Bob and Wayne Julian call the SN65. The SN65 Mustang project is the brainchild of Bob and Wayne over at SN65.com.
The project consisted of mating a 1965 Mustang Fastback body shell to that of a 2003 Cobra chassis/frame. Not only are they mating the chassis of the 2003 Cobra but also the engine, drivetrain, IRS and interior.
This one-of-a-kind build started back in May of 2004 with the deconstruction of both the 65 Fastback and the 2003 Cobra. Over the next 20 months through alot of sweat and tears along with several late nights they finally came through with a finished product that they took to the Detroit Autoramma in early March. At the show Bob and Wayne recieved the most prestigous award for “Outstanding Engineered” car. This award is surely one of many they will recieve as the car makes the car show rounds.
I followed this build off and on for several months and I can tell you this car is a work of art and there is nothing like this car on planet earth. If you have time to read through the whole journal please do, you will really understand what went into creating this one-of-a-kind car.
To find out more about the project and see the entire build process check out SN65.com.
